Guest guest
Hello, SFBAVEG Members. Thanks for your participation in our group. I'd like to highlight some problems we've had recently with posts to the list. 1. Companion animals needing homes: Finding homes for animals is a GOOD thing, but it is not the primary purpose of THIS list, and it is not why people joined SFBAVEG. Our members joined to read posts that support and foster veg*nism and animal rights. There are many other excellent resources where homes for these animals might be found, including: BAARN ( http://pets.baarn/); and Craigslist ( http://sfbay.craigslist.org/pet/) 2. Animal related events that serve meat: We do not allow these on the list because we do not believe it is right to benefit one species at the expense of another. For that reason, anyone posting an event on our list MUST state that any food being served is vegetarian or vegan - please specify which. If neither, the event may not be posted here. If you are not sure, it is your responsibility to check with the organizers before posting the event. 3. Events that benefit charities that do animal testing: These are not acceptable. Please check on the organization before posting. PCRM has a link that can help: http://www.humaneseal.org/search.cfm 4. Posts on the list that do not meet the guidelines: There are a few very active Bay Area Veg volunteers whose posts to SFBAVEG are not moderated. These are mostly people who post frequently about Bay Area Veg events that they organize. On rare occasions, one of these " unmoderated " members may post something that is outside of the guidelines. And on other occasions, the administrator who approves a post might have a " brain lapse " and mistakenly approve something that is not within the guidelines. These situations may give the appearance that we are enforcing the guidelines inconsistently or unfairly. That is not our intent. We really try to be fair to all members while keeping to the purpose of our list: to promote veg*nism and animal rights. Again, thanks for your participation in SFBAVEG. You help to make this list a vibrant, local community resource promoting animal rights and the veg*n lifestyle.
