Guest guest
Evoo instead of margarine? ---- HS Kinn 12/1/2007 12:49:16 PM Challenge Time! I have a challenge for you guys... I love the recipe I just posted on my blog: http://hskinn.com/blog/?p=96 But...It's sooooo fattening! They are a childhood fave of mine, mostly because you spend time w/mom shaping and kneading the dough and you get to talk and...you get the idea. But it's two sticks of margarine! Two! I cringed when I put them in the bowl. How can I get some of the fat down in this recipe? And still maintain their shapability and texture? Anyone? Help! LOL. Check out our recipe files at http://www.fatfreevegan.com .
Guest guest
Oil, even extra virgin olive oil, is still 100% fat, so substituting that for margarine won’t cut the fat in any way. I wonder if the cookies would still turn out if you substituted mashed banana or applesauce for the margarine? Just a thought. Guest guest
Hello all, been a member for a little while now, and decided to jump in. I've substituted 1/2 unsweetened applesauce for 1/2 the butter in baking, but then I had to either add more flour or take out some of the liquid the recipe called for. But it worked and the kids couldn't tell the difference. Lisa Coop <rodstruelove wrote: I wonder if the cookies would still turn out if you substituted mashed banana or applesauce for the margarine? Guest guest
That sounds like it might work, actually. This recipe doesn't have any liquid other than the fat, sorta, so I think I'd have to add more flour. Thank you all so much! , WeezieDavis <weeziedavis wrote: > > Hello all, been a member for a little while now, and decided to jump in.
