Guest guest
Well, that's the elitist point of view on microwaves. Personally, I think that the article is a lot of crap, based on vague sensitive feelings and hatred of technology. I've been using a microwave for over 30 years and have had no ill effects. I'm 77 and going strong, aside from a few heart attacks attributable to animal fat. People had those way before microwaves, so there's no "cause and effect." If we all had live-in cooks, butlers, and servants, we would all live forever, implies the writer of this stupid article. (Too bad for the hired help.) And if we had nothing to do except lie around and read the newspapers, everything would be better, he says. How nice for him. Why doesn't he try living in the real world with the rest of us? -- Annoyed reader Start the year off right. Easy ways to stay in shape in the new year. 1) For List Newbies: I did a three-part interview with Esselstyn last February (trying hard to poke holes in his research as my father had just had, coincidentally enough, a heart incident). You can read the interview at: http://www.madcowboy.com/02_MCIview05.000.html BTW: been on Essy's diet recommendations since late that month. Works well, no craving for fat. Does freak some family and friends out, though! And they thought vegan was weird... 2) As to cancer, there are many predispositional causes to consider, but I think it's generally accepted that certain foods and/or substances tend to increase the risk of any given cancer, some reduce the risk. I've a compendium of cites and references on some of the studies that I hope to realize within a month or so. Campbell's research (animal protein as an cancer enabler) is pretty compelling. Also, if you go to the Mad Cowboy Newsletter Archives, you can usually find a study or two referenced in each issue related to cancer. Can also use the search engine: Mad_Cowboy/ 3) Intrigued by the microwave discussion, I wrote a longer opinion on the issue of microwaving food than anticipated, because of this (and that it's OT), I've posted it at my blog address below. Guest guest
Dear JS, We are all entitled to our feelings, and your feelings are clearly expressed and as valid as anyone else's on this list. However, such harsh expression is hurtful and stirs up negative emotion. It would certainly make me feel more comfortable if we could agree to disagree gently and with respect. Guest guest
Hi Janet. I am not the one that spoke against this lady and her baby. God gives us the right to make our own choices. I was just saying that I have researched for myself as to the use of microwaves. I am against using them but it is up to the individual to do what they want. I just want the world to be safe. Big companies care little about peoples lives when it comes to making money. Our food industry set us up for destruction and will not take the blame for adding chemicals and additives and plastics and whatever to most of the products we buy. I am, by God's help trying to live a long life without someone else trying to zap the life out of me...Be Blessed! Guest guest
Darlene, We are so justified to ask the questions and I have thoroughly enjoyed all the (off topic *S*) discussion about how different people approach these concerns in a wide variety of ways. I just felt that I had to speak up when Mark's views engendered such a harsh response. I don't think, however, that anyone spoke against any ladies or any babies. If so, l will gallantly defend their honor *LOL* (I had rotties for too many years, I guess). In the immortal words of JWMann,"I absolutely insist that I enjoy life each day. There can be sunshine even in a storm." So lets go back to having fun and enjoying the sunshine of this terrific list!!
