Why does it take us so long to figure these things out.

I'm trying to figure out how I can make my own pizza not using any

canned sauces due to the chemicals. I also don't feel like making

home made tomato sauce every time I want pizza.

Enjoy!

Green sauce: I like making pasta sauce from ground bean and grain

flour (mixed grains and legumes). Just blend one to two cups of fresh

ground flour into one quart of hot water. I'll add garlic, onions,

peppers mushrooms + salt, herbs like fresh basil and rosemary from the

garden (and even some tomato sauce). It can be green if I use enough

split green peas in the bean+grain mix. Otherwise it is brown and very

gravy-like. Comfort food, but no fat & little simple sugars.

Whenever we order pizzas, I always get one with no cheese. It’s quite delicious, and I’ve never had the toppings fall off! :)

This is one of those things that makes you wonder why you didn't think

of it before...at least for me. Whenever my family would get pizza, I

always just got a salad. I just couldn't bear to have a pizza with no

cheese and have all the toppings falling off.

It just dawned on me last night that I could order a calzone with all

my toppings, no cheese and it's all right there in a nifty little

pocket of yumminess!!! And...It WAS SOOOO GOOD!!! :)

Sounds like a yummy idea. However, I don't eat out (or delivered) as

I've found that some foods you would never suspect to have animal

products in them, do. Restaurants are not above adding animal fat or

bases to food to " enhance " the flavor. Like adding chicken stock to

rice or broccoli when cooking or real butter to biscuit dough. Or

even handling your food when preparing it. The same hands, whether

gloved or not, are likely handling meats and other animal products as

well. And I can't rely on the server to know if the items are true

vegan or not. They typically don't care and will just tell you what

you want to hear. It's just something to keep in mind.

P.S. My apologies to the group regarding my salad dressing recipe

idea faux pas earlier; the toffuti sour cream is not fat free. My bad!

Yes, calzones are the best! We live near a vegan friendly, NY style

pizza place-they actually make a vegan pie! Now I mostly order a

spinach and cheese-free pesto sauce calzone with roasted garlic...Oh my!

I haven't checked yet but is there an oil free or low oil recipe for

pesto on this site?
