Guest guest
I’ve been experimenting with oatmeal as a base for my breakfast. The final product is quite delicious and nutritious. Oatmeal plus Ingredients: 1 cu. Water ½ cu. Oatmeal 4-5 dates Handful of almonds Silk “Very Vanilla” soy milk Method: In a soup bowl: add the water to the dates and the almonds. Microwave on high for four minutes. Remove from the microwave, and crush the dates with the back of a soup spoon. Add the oatmeal. Microwave on high for three minutes. Remove from the microwave, and let the mixture rest for four minutes. Add the soy milk to taste, stir. (Powdered cinnamon adds to the flavor) (Note: I used dates and almonds from Ann’s House of Nuts, Inc. They have no sulfur dioxide added. I could find them in only one store. Does anybody know of another supplier of dried fruit and nuts that contains no sulfur dioxide?) I like to put several frozen strawberries in 1 cup water with 1/2 cup old-fashioned oats and microwave for four minutes. The strawberries turn into a nice, yummy mush that blends in with the oatmeal. I sprinkle nutmeg on top when it's done. Tasty and super-fast. Sparrow
Guest guest
I buy online at Purcell Mountain Farms. I love their selection of dried fruits. I was most impressed with the dried strawberries - nothing added and they're wonderful. - Norman Sussman Saturday, April 05, 2008 5:02 PM Experimented...Result: delicious breakfast I’ve been experimenting with oatmeal as a base for my breakfast. Guest guest
Thanks, Kim. I hadn’t thought of them. I bought Christmas Lima Beans from Purcell Mountain Farms last year. Their service is great, and they seem to be very nice people. The dried fruit looks like it must be delicious.
