Guest guest
On Friday, severe storms and tornados ripped through my town, knocking out power lines and tossing trees through roofs and across streets. Fortunately, there were no fatalities, and my house came through with only a slightly damaged roof. We feel very lucky; the other side of the street looks completely devastated. I don't expect to have power restored until Wednesday at the earliest, so if you have sent me any email, I promise to get to it as soon as I can. If there are any questions, I'm sure that co-moderators Courtney (Eat-2-Live) and Sue in NJ (fatfreevegan) will be happy to answer them (thanks, you guys!). The same thing happened to us in 03, and it was painful watching our friends and neighbors rebuild their lives. Best wishes to your town. Guest guest
Hi,We too are counting our blessings. My parents' home was hit by a tree. Now, we are reaping the benefits of having full-time grandparents in our home. We have two grown daughters and a third-grader. This is a wonderful time for our family and I mean that in the sincerest way. We are planning meals, coordinating trips to town and sitting on the porch.Take care and I hope your home will be healed soon.LindaOn Apr 8, 2008, at 5:16 PM, Serene wrote:Susan Voisin wrote:> On Friday, severe storms and tornados ripped through my town,> knocking out power lines and tossing trees through roofs and across> streets. Guest guest
Susan...I don't post much but my prayers are with you, I am so glad everything was okay...I am scared to death of tornadoes...that's why I am out west! I spent one summer in Florida running from hurricanes and even though at times I feel homeless, I love this rv lifestyle! I love your blog and recipes and enjoy reading it all!We went back to Anniston Alabama one time to get a family bible from his relatives for his sister and the sirens went off. I asked what that was and the guy said it was the tornado warning. I asked him to put on the weather and he said he didn't have it. I told him to FIND it. We got outta there and drove 19 miles back to our dog in the rv and lightning hit right next to the road. I am out west, not in the lightning capital of the world anymore thankfully...wish I had your garden! I do have to flowerpots with herbs growing in them!Nancy and EdOur travel adventures...http://ncyg46.blogspot.com/http://360./ncyg46http://www.flickr.com/photos/ncyg46/ You rock. Guest guest
> I don't expect to have power restored until Wednesday at the earliest, Unfortunately, I didn't even *see* this until Wednesday morning. Susan, I hope you had a copy of " Apocalypse Chow " handy for those non-power days. I read that Robin Robertson (author of a few veggie books and VegNews mag articles) and her husband did a great job on it, not just with recipes but helpful hints and lists of stuff to have on hand *before* a disaster like this hits. > If there are any questions, I'm sure that > co-moderators Courtney (Eat-2-Live) and Sue in NJ (fatfreevegan) will > be happy to answer them (thanks, you guys!). Well, I *can* mention that itself will be down for a while on Wednesday afternoon, so if people have problems posting, don't worry. Hope to see you back soon, Susan, and that you and your family are doing okay. Sue in NJ

I am relieved that there were no fatalities, but am so sorry about folks' homes. I will be keeping you and your neighbors in my thoughts. Guest guest
Thanks to everyone who wrote messages of concern and support. I really appreciate all of your emails, especially those where you've shared your own stories with me. This week has been hectic and I'm still not caught up on all my group messages, but I wanted you to know that your kindness has meant a lot.
