Guest guest
Tonight's experiment.... er supper. This was a seat-of-the-pants recipe, so feel free to change, add or delete ingredients... Garbanzo patties finely mince 1 onion.: Put in a bowl and add any perportions of liquid totaling 1 cup- broth, soy sauce, chili sauce, ketchup, Salad dressing. Heat in microwave for 2-3 minutes till onion is lightly cooked Pour over: 1 cup TVP and let soak in. Mix in: 2 c cooked garbanzo beans run throught the blender and grate in: 2 carrots Season to taste with: dry parsely, lemon pepper or Mrs Dash seasoning. If mix is too liquid, add in quick oats or oat bran till the consistency of ground burger... Heat heavy skillet and wipe with a little oil to prevent sticking. Shape dough into small patties and coat in a bowl of oats, cornmeal bread crumbs or sesame seeds, or any combination. Brown in skillet a few at time, and cover to finish cooking. These can also be baked on a lightly oiled cookie sheet. I made the whole batch and froze the rest for lunches. Add a frozen patty or 2 to a sandwich, and it will thaw by lunchtime , or pack separately to reheat. clear skies! Lc Carol
Guest guest
I made these night before last... added a fat 1/8th teaspoon of cayenne, 2 cloves minced garlic, used spaghetti sauce instead of ketchup, didn't use any TVP.... and they were spectacular! Even my somewhat anti-veganism husband liked them!! I had another patty for lunch.. even better! I've frozen the leftovers... Thank you Siderea!! siderea wrote: Tonight's experiment.... er supper. Guest guest
You are quite welcome, Barbara. I think this "patty" idea can be used for any bean, and some finely chopped vegetables and leftovers- just a base for experimentation. Falafel are not that much different, but I usually bake them in smaller flattened "meatball" sizes. Someone on another list posted a seitan Italian sausage recipe that I just have to sneak into a lasagna and fool my carnivore DH! LOL Will post it when I've tried it! - Barbara Dundas Thursday, April 17, 2008 13:24 PM Re: Garbanzo patties I made these night before last... added a fat 1/8th teaspoon of cayenne, 2 cloves minced garlic, used spaghetti sauce instead of ketchup, didn't use any TVP....and they were spectacular! We've eaten the Italian sausages twice already. We like them a lot. Serene
Guest guest
I love those Italian Sausages! I slice them thin on pizza or in soup. I got an idea recently to try slicing them thicker and sauteeing for meatballs in spaghetti, etc. I’ll let you know how that goes.
