Guest guest
Hi Jo That sounds lovely. I hope that you and Colin have a great evening. We have nothing planned on the horizon here. But we usualy don't celebrate for Valentine's Day which is ok. I did however get Zak a few goodies and he was quite excited this morning to give DH and I the Valentine's that he made us. Guest guest
It's run by Indians, but their menu is quite a mix. It is almost all vegan, with a few vegetarian dishes, organic and quite a lot wheat free. I had Caribbean casserole with rice and salad, and Colin had Tofu and Veg in Coconut sauce - both were delicious. Guest guest
We make our own cards on the computer - so not everything has to be commercialised. I remember once, my daughter's ex-partner scribbled a little poem on a piece of paper. Jo - peter hurd Tuesday, February 14, 2006 7:12 PM Re: Eating out.... Guest guest
Hi Jo That is the easiest solution that I have found to work without killing them. Just make sure that the tape is a couple of inches wide and covers all entry areas. Also after awhile the tape may get dirty and be unaffective so you may need to replace it. Hope it works! Guest guest
If it is copper , does it get a build up of verdigris?, if so does this make it less effective ( as in all electrical copper connections?) - as its effectiveness is supposed to be due to its ability to provide an electric shock to the little molluscs? Guest guest
I dunno - I just know it works *desperately looks around the room for Fraggle* Ok, I heard it was the metal ions of copper that repeled them. It gives them a jolt of electricity. I also heard that you can use copper sulfate too as a barrier. Other barriers or repelents that I have heard of but unsure if they work: coffee grounds, oak leaves, lettuce, cabbage & epsom salts Nikki , peter hurd <swpgh01 wrote: > > If it is copper , does it get a build up of verdigris?, if so does this make it less effective ( as in all electrical copper connections?) - as its effectiveness is supposed to be due to its ability to provide an electric shock to the little molluscs? > > The Valley Vegan............ >
Guest guest
You need to try companion planting, plant something like marigolds between the rows and around the outside of the bed, carrot fly work on smell, and things like marigolds tend to mask the carrot, and are the right hieght. Guest guest
Be careful with Wormwood, it aint called that for nothing, It can make you quite ill if ingested, as is a strong purgative. I would prefer Marigolds at least you can eat the petals in salads, make decoctions as they are good for bruising (calendula), and they are easier to grow ( and cheaper ). Coffe makes sense masks the small of the carrots, dont know about 3 & 4 . The Valley Vegan...........jo <jo.heartwork wrote: Thanks. Lots of ideas there for me to try. Guest guest
Absinthe is made from wormwood I believe, and somewhat poisonous. It seems to be very popular amongst the more posey Pagan people, and Goths! I will try marigolds, but I rememmered that I usually have to have these in baskets because the slugs eat them to the ground overnight. I'll obviously have to use several methods against carrot fly and slugs! Guest guest
Hi Y'all Well with my son out visiting, we've been eating out a bit, and asside from blowing it on the salt, it has not been to difficult to stay fat free Veg. Exception was today...We were headed out to the coast and stopped at the old Cheese Factory to pick up lunch stuff, for my two omnivore guys and myself... Of course the deprived native son picks out Sourdough bread, dry salami and brie cheese... To have something vegan, and they had no humus, I picked up a tub of "Artichoke, olive , caper" spread----some whole wheat crackers , apples, and grape juice You know , that spread would have been fantastic without all the olive oil. Aside from that , ingredients were chopped artichokes, olives, capers. lemon juice, and spices, a good grind of pepper in there. Scrumptios on the seedy crackers I think I'm going to try to whip up a batch of this in the next few days! I love taking a traditional recipe, or idea and figuring out how to make it healthier and still delicious. Not very heard with traditional mediterranian ingredients. Oh, and garlic stuffed olives are to die for, but only if everyone in the group partakes..... I only had two =) lc carol BTW, anyone have a good methodology for making crackers?
