Guest guest
Hi, I recently read an article somewhere online that told how to make Oatmeal from steel cut oats in the Crockpot. Does anyone have these directions? For the life of me, I can't find the instructions. It made several days worth of oatmeal. Thanks for any help. Guest guest
i've made steel cut oats loads in the crock pot, just use the equation of 1 cup oats to 4 cups water, I use boiling water, and let it cook over night or about 5 or six hours. However, it does tend to stick to the bottom and a far superior result can be achieved in a much shorter time by cooking them in the rice cooker if you have one. I always cook mine this way now. Use 2 cups of water to one cup of oats, put it in the rice cooker and they are fabulous in about 45 minutes. Mind you, you have to make in either the crock pot or rice cooker enough for about 4 people, or it will burn, but you can eat one lot and pop the other 3 in the fridge for the next 3 days, or even make stacks of it and freeze it in individual pots. You can add a handful of dried fruit if you fancy and/or some cinamon, or if you like savoury oats, throw in a rinced can of chick peas or red kidney beans and some salt. Guest guest
Wow, I just toss some cinnamon, berries, agave nectar and soymilk in and nuke my oatmeal for three minutes in the morning and then add some ground flaxseed! But then, I like 'em thick, chunky, super easy, and no-mess. Hi there, I've been lurking for a while, but all these posts about going through such effort for morning oatmeal has really had me shaking my head (not meaning anything against anyone's tastes, just thinking what a contrast it was to mine!). But then, if it weren't for the microwave and toaster oven, I'd pretty much be on a raw food diet, I hate to cook that much! Guest guest
I used to be a big oatmeal fan (mine: hemp milk, flax seed, fruit or agave zapped), but I've recently been won over by buckwheat (fixed the same as above). Guest guest
-Hi, yes that is for the flakes though right? The Irish oatmel is different-less processed. but it really isn't that much trouble to just soak them overnight It's like when I make bread-not very often don't have the time but I make a sponge-so it does the work overnight I soak the grains because many years ago when i used to even eat regualr creal out of the box I was developing ileitis-the beginnings of crohns disease that was about 20 something years ago-I'm fine but I do find soaking my grains help to digest it -good for my whole family Em -- In , " saramindle " <saramindle wrote: > > Wow, I just toss some cinnamon, berries, agave nectar and soymilk in > and nuke my oatmeal for three minutes in the morning and then add some > ground flaxseed!
