Guest guest
Hello, nice to see another San Francisco-an! Cafe Gratitude is Vegan and Gluten free. They have a location on Harrison and at 9th and Irving. Wonderful place! If you like Chinese food, Shangri-La at Irving and 22nd is vegan and they understand gluten-free if you tell them and will keep the soy sauce out, they will also use your soy sauce if you bring the wheat-free kind. Enjoy! , m k <rickybigthighs wrote: > > > anyone know of any gf, vegan restaurants in the bay area? > > > Relax. I wasn't getting vegan food, but Greens was *very* accomodating of my food allergies (soy, gluten, moldy cheese, peanuts, papaya). I called ahead and was told not to worry. *Do* call ahead, though. They're a vegetarian restaurant, but not vegan. I'm sure they can accomodate a vegan, though. Otherwise, check out Indian restaurants and Ethiopian. You'll have to ask about ghee, milk/cream, and eggs (at the Ethiopian restaurants) and you'll have to make sure the Ethiopian restaurants used t'ef in their injera (no wheat or barley). ygg

Guest guest
The McDougall Celebrity Chef Weekend that I mentioned before (http://drmcdougall.com/health_celebrity_chef_weekend.html) is rapidly approaching at the end of this month. I'm excited about going not just for the chance to meet the McDougalls and lots of fellow McDougallers but also because afterwards I will be able to spend the day in San Francisco, a place I've always wanted to go. I'd love to hear from those of you who know the city--what should I see, where should I eat--even, where should I stay? I'd like to get a hotel near to everything I want to see so that can get around on foot. So please, email me with your suggestions. Vegan-specific ideas should be on-topic for the group, but feel free to email me off-list with any other suggestions. Thanks!
