Guest guest
Most store-bought teriyaki sauce has a lot of oil in 'em, most have a lot of salt (yeah, there's a low sodium version). BUT... you can also make a healthier version on your own (and save $$). Here's one I found and will have to try out. Looks reasonable (maybe add some pineapple juice, too, or use it and less brown sugar?): FROM: http://www.glutenfreeforum.com/index.php?showtopic=23017 & mode=linear " Teriyaki Sauce Mary Ellen Bramwell 1/2 cup cold water 1/2 cup soy sauce 1/3 cup brown sugar 1 clove garlic, minced 2 Tbsp cornstarch In a small saucepan, mix water, soy sauce, brown sugar, garlic and cornstarch together with a wire whisk. Stir constantly over medium-high heat until thick and bubbly. " Think I'd also add some powdered ginger. Susan V. also did one: ttp://blog.fatfreevegan.com/2006/05/teriyaki-tofu-and-vegetable-kabobs.html ....although I'd omit the sesame oil and blend some of the water with roasted sesame seeds. Like that her's uses less brown sugar. FYI, Mark http://www.soulveggie.com

The stuff in my local stores had more salt & additives than the teriyaki. I do have a salt-free " soy " sauce recipe from the Rice Diet boards, but it really tastes nothing like soy sauce to me.
