First of all welcome to everyone new :)

I am just sooo disgusted with myself.

I don't seem to have the will power to resist the impulse DrPepper's and snacks when I stop to pay gas. I use cash only so I can't just use the pay at the pump.

People have posted recipe suggestions before..

Well basicly my only grocery store is WalMart Supercenter and a small hometown grocery. I am so disorganized right now I need someone to send me a meal plan and step by step ingredient list and how to make it from ingredients I can get at my local stores.

Plus I am on the following medications which the first two really make you gain major weight. I cannot stop these medications as they are the only ones that have helped me in 12 years of suffering. SEROQUEL,LAMICTAL,ZOCOR

How can I trick my body into thinking that it needs to greatly speed up my metabolism and lose weight when I am on the above medications?

I am 5'7" tall and weigh 260 pounds. I am almost 32 and have had 4 children.

I am just down in the dumps and depressed about my unsuccess at losing weight.

I need a sponsor like they have for AA members LOL!

You could always use a debit card (good as cash, straight from your

checking account). Or, alternatively, if the concern is that you'd

overuse it yet, you could fill a prepaid card with a couple hundred

bucks, just for this sole purpose.

i too bought the cheapest pressure cooker going made by Swan it cost £15 when

Netto had a

special offer on. it's so basic and simple and sturdy. I've looked at getting

one of the

expensive ones, which I believe are much more efficient, but when this one cooks

perfect

every time I just can't see why to bother.

I have to decide if my health is important or not.I get to decide what goes into my mouth.

I keep water with me and drink it , or healthy snacks like apples, or baked chick peas ect in my car.Even sugar free gum... I am not as likely to buy unhealthy food.

Have heard that even in AA the sponsors can not keep you form drinking if that is what you choose...This is a free country.Good luck

This is what I do too. I always keep something in the car to eat and if we are traveling anywhere at all, I pack an ice chest. My husband is not a FF Vegan but, lucky for me, he does NOT like fastfood so whenever we head out, whether it be a day outing or a vacation. I always pack our own food. Another up side to bringing your own food is that you know what you are getting and how it will affect you. Since we seldom have fast food, if and when we do, it never sits right with us, and that is the last thing you need on a long car trip.

Sparrow, Your reply to Samantha was so wonderful. I don't think I

have anything to add EXCEPT to ask if you'd share the menus you put

together for Samantha with me. And, Samantha here's what I'm eating

to lose weight and become healthy:

Breakfast ~ three fruits or two fruits and unlimited berries

Lunch - huge salad ~ should weigh around 1 pound. Has lots of romaine

lettuce, baby spinach, other vegetables and garbanzo beans. Also

cashews or sunflower seeds. I try to use only homemade salad dressing.

Dinner ~ a vegetable soup with beans and possibly steamed green

vegetables. Sometimes I put roasted (roasted at home) pumpkin seeds on

my soups.

I' m striving to lose 100 pounds. I've lost 15.5 so far. It's slow.

I also exercise six days a week.

I have a hard time eating this way because I always used food to

soothe myself and I've been extremely depressed lately, partially due

to my own chemistry but also situational things. The help with the

depression I spend an hour in the sun every morning, take fish oil and

vitamin D. I also write and try to spend as much time with friends as

possible. It's helping. It's slow.

Oops, looks like I did have a " few " things to add <grin>.

Keep posting, too. I find that the more I reach out to others, the

better I do with my program.

Best,

Debbie

When you say exercise, exactly what exercises do you do and how many and for how long? I had to give up my gym membership as I couldn't afford the fees.

Amusing! Though there is a learning curve to get to that point. All of

us are somewhere along that curve and the simplicity of " just throwing

some stuff together " makes it easy to forget how intimidating the

earlier parts of the curve can be.

Great response and a simplistic way to begin (no point in overwhelming

yourself with complicated recipies). Make the beans canned (that's

fast) and throw in some rice (brown is better). You can start out with

beans, rice, and veggies, plus fruit for dessert, and then build on

that. We have that often (usually kidney or black beans) and I like a

little BBQ sauce on them.

It's do-able. Build success into your program by keeping it as simple

as what you have time for and can easily manage. And keep a sense of

humor (go online and read the comics and laugh)! That helps get me

through stressful times. Best of luck!

Samantha,

I gave up my gym membership, too. I walk on MWTHS and bicycle on TF.

I use small free weights at home. Debbie
