Guest guest
also kenneth williams' website. He likes to say " Go vegan and no one gets hurt! " http://veganmusclepower.org/ I joined a gym a year ago and was shocked, shocked to discover that it promotes veganism as part of the dietary plan they recommend to people taking their " 60 day Fitness challenge " . They are totally into muscle building as well as fitness. They have lots of articles about nutrition on their website (at the bottom of the left side bar): www.monkeybargym.com. -barb On Jun 18, 2008, at 10:54 PM, Victoria Christison wrote: > > Try these! > > http://www.organicathlete.org/ > > www.veganbodybuilding.com/ > > http://www.brendanbrazier.com/ > > Good Luck! > > Victoria > > ----- > > I've been a vegan for 2 months now..go me! and now I have a dilemma. Guest guest
A vegan diet is more than sufficient to build muscle. We build muscle not by what we eat, but by stressing our muscles and then allowing sufficient rest for them to grow. I've been 100% vegan for six years and am stronger now than I was as a high school athlete forty years ago. All from a high-intensity workout program. If you follow any of the fat-free vegan programs such as McDougall, Esselstyn, Barnard, or Fuhrman, you'll be feeding your muscles as well as doing the rest of your body a favor. Guest guest
I have seen elephants eat. They were eating bananas, apples and oranges all with the peels on! They eat them like they were snack pieces of popcorn by using their trunk as a hand to lift them to their mouths. They ate quickly and reached for another fruit as soon as the previous one was in their mouth just like we would eat a bowl of popcorn, but each piece of popcorn would represent a whole fruit! I was amazed to see this. Guest guest
I know we can build muscle with exercise because I have done it. I also see horses who are vegan as usual and they get fat if they do not exercise, but muscular if they do exercise. This is by eating the same food each day, fed to them whether they are exercising or not. So, it definitely is the exercise that makes the muscle and not so much a special food like some body building food supplement sellers lead you to believe by selling their protein powders and protein bars with not much more nutrition than candy bars. There are many healthy vegan alternatives for these if you like them, but I noticed vegetables, rather than fruits seem to have more protein as well as beans. Fruit seems to be almost void of protein except maybe botanical fruits that we really eat as vegetables like tomatoes or bell peppers, but I will not confirm or deny their exact protein content as I get sufficient protein from other veggies and beans and rice. Guest guest
Unfortunately, this article gives the impression that you can call yourself a veganbut still eat dairy, or even meat sometimes. I wish journalists were a bit more educated! On Sat, Jun 21, 2008 at 1:09 PM, Maida Genser <maidawg wrote: This recent article fits into this discussion: Who says you have to eat meat to be a successful athlete? Guest guest
I've been vegan for 10 years straight, and I've lifted weights everyone of these years. The thing about being vegan is that you have to eat much more than your average vegan. Just like a horse with all of those muscles, you have to be eating constantly. The Main thing is vitamins. Especially vitamin D, calcium, b12, b7, iron, and protein. I go to GNC stores and buy the mega multiple for vegetarians. Another helpful tip is to not fill up on anything with too much fiber after you've taken your vitamins because fiber can make your body ignore iron. When you take your vitamins don't eat anything with fiber for your first meal. I think that you can probably eat fiber a few hours later. Thats all that I got to say about that!!georgetten <georgetten Sent: Saturday, June 21, 2008 2:02:23 PMRe: Re: building muscle Unfortunately, this article gives the impression that you can call yourself a veganbut still eat dairy, or even meat sometimes.
