Howdy all-

In my unending quest to find new recipes, I thought I'd ask everyone

for their favorite casserole or crock pot recipe. I eat small meals

so I find these types of foods work best. So, if everyone would post

their favorites (ideally with a link to the recipe or the recipe)-that

would be great! :)

I have to admit that I usually use my crock pot when there are lots of bits of

veg hanging

around in the fridge and I just throw it all in with some lentils. I really

feel that I

should look up some proper recipes, even the ones that came with the cooker look

pretty

good. I love what happens to potatoes when left on all day, they go so soft and

creamy.

I have seen that you can bake potatoes in it, which I must have a go at one day.

I have

just treated myself to a new cooker. I had a huge one that isn't really used any

more and

a tiny one that kept boiling over all the time, even on it's lowest setting. So,

I bought

a medium sized one and it's the best yet, a Kenwood. So, I'm going to look up

some proper

recipes too and be a bit more adventurous with it this winter.

That's a huge problem with the slow cookers now. The older ones had a

lower temperature setting than the new ones, as people became more

afraid of bacteria from leaving food cooking for 10 or so hours at temps

not hot enough to kill the baddies. Recipes from older books won't work

on newer ones, and vice versa.

It's been very dead since people were accused of plagiarism and

copyright infringements by members who were authors, but the archives

hold loads of great recipes. There are also a few books out there, too,

like Fresh from the Vegetarian Slow Cooker by Robin Robertson.

Thanks, I'll join up and have a look. Mind you, it's not quite slow cooker

weather yet,

so I have time to collect some ready for the winter.

it is slow cooker weather here in Arizona...it doesn't heat up the rv!!!

I do cook things overnite....He does his stuff and I do mine...or we can put it outside on really hot days! I even bought a 2 qt. but it cooks too hot, so I returned it. I guess they did change the temps for them or they don't use smaller heating elements in the small pots!I am learning to grill veggies on the bbq now....just too hot to stand over a stove

I have a new crock pot that has three removeable bowls in it. I bought it a

walmart. I love it I bake my potatoes in it and it does not heat my kitchen up.

It has been over 100 this week in Tyler Texas

Hi all,I wrote a blog post listing a bunch of vegetarian slow cooker recipes. Some are links to the fat free vegan site, but there are others to my site and the crockpot lady's site. Maybe it'll give you a few ideas at least. http://chowspice.com/blog/category/slow-cooker/

They are not all vegan, but everything can be easily modified.Good luck! I love my slow cooker!!Kathy

Nancy,

Grilled veggies are really good. I sliced up potatoes, yams, zuchini and BBQ'd them on foil. It is good I brought a lot because everyone wanted some but they put butter on theirs. I put mine on a whole wheat bun and added fresh tomatoes, pickles, onion and etc. It was a home made veggie burger that was delicious. Everyone else had hamburgers. I am not finding vegan eating to be a problem for anyone. They always want my food.
