Guest guest
Scott, you're not answering the question. You said the average American consumes 80% in protein. 80% of WHAT in protein? Not calories, that's for sure. -Erinhttp://www.zenpawn.com/vegblog'>http://www.zenpawn.com/vegblog - scott raphael Saturday, August 30, 2008 1:22 AM Re: Re: Bragg's liquid aminos Protein!!! Certainly not calories! Also, keep in mind The China Study http://www.zenpawn. com/amazon/ ?item=1932100660 found animal protein to be the main culprit (in many of the studies, they used the milk protein casein). -Erinhttp://www.zenpawn. com/vegblog - scott raphael Saturday, August 30, 2008 12:31 AM Re: Re: Bragg's liquid aminos You can get all Bragg's products in most any health food stores. Please keep in mind that too much protien can tax the liver. There are over 1000 studies that indicate that Americans are consuming far too much protien and are doing more harm then good. We should only only consume no more then 10 to 20 % at the absolute most in proteins per day and the average American consumes about 80% which makes the liver work twice as hard. It is a very good idea to switch from a product like Soy Sauce to Liquid Aminos but, I would focus on increasing your conplex carbs( veggies, beans, peas and lagumes) and decrease your animal sulfer- based amino acid proteins and I will assure you your health will increase a thousand fold. Guest guest
I can see this is going nowhere. LOL. Was merely calling into question your unreferenced statistic: " We should only only consume no more then 10 to 20 % at the absolute most in proteins per day and the average American consumes about 80% which makes the liver work twice as hard. " Based on McDougall's article: http://www.drmcdougall.com/free_2e.html you might be able to put that average American consumption at 30-50% of calories, but certainly not 80%. (He cites the World Health Organization recommendation of 5% and states Americans get 6-10 times that.) You'll also find: " Scientists have found that animal proteins are particularly damaging to the body, because so many of their amino acids contain sulfa, which is far more toxic to the liver and kidneys than vegetable proteins. " which is what I was saying about the China Study, where a difference was shown between casein and plant proteins. -Erin http://www.zenpawn.com/vegblog - scott raphael Saturday, August 30, 2008 7:28 AM Re: protein (was: Braggs...) Guest guest
I do agree that the best source of protein would be plant based but the general public assumes that any and all protein is derived from an animal sources only. I do base the average protein intake very high simply because there really is no average American the majority are overweight and in poor health I am basing my stats on the fact that a very large percentage of Americans have either CVD, DM or a cancer in one form or another which is a clear indication of excess of sulfa based amino acid animal protein. We clearly base our diet on excessive protein in animal form and not enough on what makes our cells run well, which of course, complex carbs in a plant based form. As you may have read from McDougall's paper there have never been a reported case of protein defiancy ever in medical recorded history. My point is we simply consume way too much protein.--- On Sat, 8/30/08, Erin <truepatriot wrote: Erin <truepatriotRe: protein (was: Braggs...)
