Not to mention the fact that they're not vegan.

Some are vegan (Garden Vegan, Riblets, Flame Grilled Chik'n patties), though many of the others do contain cheese.--- On Wed, 9/10/08, Brett <babradley wrote:Brett <babradley Re:This Week's menu Date: Wednesday, September 10, 2008, 11:56 AM

Our subway has a new sandwich called the

vegie max that has all vegies and a garden-type burger.

Ahh, I have not seen that on our menu, thus my confusion. I love the veggie

sandwich.

At Subway, as mentioned in the original note, we usually eat their

" Veggie Delite "

with no added cheese (of course). Also, I've discovered that when the

bread is toasted and there are extra wax peppers (a.k.a. Hungarian

peppers) and a squirt of honey-mustard dressing (no mayo, of course),

the result is decent -- better than other fast food alternatives. The

small sub has only 3 grams of fat.

Since Subway is all over the place, it's nice to know it's possible to

get one thing quickly that is both reasonably healthy and fairly tasty.

Ok, so this isn't overwhelming praise. But when compared to the usual

fast food suspects, it towers over the others.

I think that you’re referring to the one available in the US? The one available in Australia is vegan.

Calorie King (www.calorieking.com) doesn't list Subway's vegetable

burger, but there are vegetarian blogs/other discussion board members

who have gone to the trouble of contacting Subway about ingredients

and nutrition. Apparently any given Subway, anywhere, may have one of

two possible types of veggie burgers:

http://beforewisdom.com/blog/?p=31

A recurring topic in various forums is if vegans can get something to

eat at Subway. I emailed Subway about nutritional information( it

isn't on their site ) and I thought I would share the info. An excerpt

from their email starts below the " == " line

===========================================

In response to your question the Ingredients and nutritional

information for the Gardenburger and VegiMax are as follows:

Gardenburger:

Mushrooms, brown rice, onions, rolled oats, part-skim mozzarella,

cottage cheese curd, egg white, cheddar cheese, bulgar wheat, natural

seasonings and spices, autolyzed yeast, sea salt, olive oil, tapioca

starch, and vegetable gum.

guess I'll stick with the vegie delight

from now on.

This was the first time I'd seen or tried the burger option.

They are always very nice about my requests for more tomatoes and

cucumbers and peppers to substitute for more cheese.
