Guest guest
Most Chinese restaurants I've been to in California have served Oolong tea. I'm not a big tea drinker, but have recently noticed at the health food store, they are packaging green tea in capsule form. I'm wondering if there is any difference in the health benefits. Probably not? ~debbie
Guest guest
Green tea is green because they leave out only one of the roasting steps. It is dried at high heat by some companies. The de-caffination process makes decaffeinated anything a dead food. It is hard to know what is done to a food so far away. You can make a wonderful spirited tea by grating ginger root (which can safely be frozen until needed next) and seeping it in 118 degree water for 20 minutes. Ginger root is wonderful for the circualtion of the head as horseradish is for the body. Water is boiled for traditional teas and coffees. However the temp we want to stay at or under is 118 degrees. This is plenty hot for your tea. A nice tea cozy or fat towel will allow it to seep for the 20 minutes before drinking. You can gentley re-warm it if needed. There are many fine air dried herbs that can be used for teas. Dehydrated fruit can also be seeped in the hot water, making a yummy drink that gives a nice heat as well as softened fruit to use for your morning breakfast along with sprouted nuts and grains. (I love a teaspoonful sprinkled over my salads in the a.m.) Or you can blend it once it is soft, adding a bit more hot water. One of the things we need to invest in as Raw food eaters, are a set of thermometers. We need to test our dehydrators, and monitor our water for teas and even " soups " for cold days. Laura PS if you want me to post more herbs for teas, let me know. Don't want to be redundant. ===== test'; " > Send a seasonal email greeting and help others. Do good. http://celebrity.mail. One wolf is the vengeful, angry, violent one. The other wolf is the loving, compassionate one. The grandson asked him, Which wolf will win the fight in your heart? The grandfather answered, The one I feed. "
Guest guest
Thanks for the info and nice post Laura. My diet aim is to be 99% raw. One up of green tea a day, I've decided makes me so happy from the taste in that Good Earth Jasmine Green Tea with agave, that I'm not going to worry about it. I was brewing all kinds of Kombucha tea on a long ferment to remove the sugar...but still had questions about it and it's a hassel...altho I did get really into it for about three monts. I don't think this raw diet will be a fad for me. Blessings, Diana of Dewberry Hill Mail - now with 250MB free storage. Learn more.
Guest guest
Hi Pat, Thanks for doing the research on green tea. I'll check the site you mention. I had to smile at your comment about green tea curing any ailment one can think of. I read that it will also help with weight loss, and wouldn't that be grand Karen
Guest guest
Ralph asked: Hi everyone Would someone please give me a source for green tea leaves or loose green tea leaves. ===================== Trader Joes sells Uncle Lee's loose green tea, which is quite good, and very reasonably priced. There are also many on-line tea companies. I've ordered from Stash in the past, and been quite satisfied. Annice

Guest guest
Hi Deanna: That is good to hear. I have cut way down on coffee and I usually have a cup or so of green tea at work. Some days I don't even have that. Now instead of drinking the couple cups of coffee a day I drink the tea. According to this study 2 cups of Green Tea daily may help reduce the risk/protect us from getting Alzheimers and dementia. This study published in the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition stated that by drinking the 2 cups per day one is at least 50 % less likely to show cognitive impairment than those who drank regular tea. Overall better memory and good health were had by the study group. Deanna
Guest guest
kikiman makes a soymilk with green tea in it. One of the Grocery stores near me used to carry it. I would put it in my oatmeal in the morning. I was really bummed when they stopped. gayle glpveg4life Wed, 08 Mar 2006 13:54:55 -0500 Re: Green Tea Hi Deanna: That is good to hear. Guest guest
I would second the CRON approach. The whole theory behind it being that calorie restriction is the only proven approach to increasing longevity. In conjunction with a healthy no-added-fat cuisine, its got to be the healthiest gift any one of us could give themselves. VS, I have lost 35 lbs since January , have another 25 to go for my optimal weight. But I've never felt better. I don't think that green tea in particular helps with weigh loss, unless to increase fluid intake and distract oneself from munching. There are many studies out on healthy weight loss, most come down to decreased caloric intake and regular exercise. On a nonfat vegan diet, you would be hard pressed to gain weight no matter how much you indulged. Get out there on a walk, enjoy your fruits nd vegetables and stick with us. We're all here for healthier selves, families and a healthier planet. Clear skies! lc carol re you interested in weight loss only?
