Guest guest
Hello All, I think this was mentioned on another veg list that I am on but I thought I would share since it is virtually fat free and some of us are struggling. It's called a carrot dog! I had never heard of this before I saw it posted, but it was really tasty. Cook you a couple of carrots (steamed or sauteed, any way you like) then put them on a hot dog bun and cover with Hormel Vegetarian Chili and lots of chopped onions. Yummmmmm!!! Make them from a regular loaf of white bread dough. My white bread has no fat in it, and I do make burger and hot dog buns from it. Guest guest
No, I'm not tempted either, does it really taste good? One of my favourite lunchtime meals is a wholemeal pita stuffed with grated raw carrot and sliced apple. Now that is a stunningly fabulous meal. Do you have a bread machine or a stand mixer? (Neither one is necessary; just the procedure's a little different depending on how you make the bread.) Do you use the specialty hot dog pan for those buns like this one from King Arthur, or just shape your rolls long and thin? http://www.kingarthurflour.com/shop/detail.jsp?id=5658 Sue in NJ
Guest guest
Serene, I really liked it alot. It was quick and simple plus the flavors melded great together. My carrot was cooked well though (not mushy but tender). Guest guest
Please don't buy Hormel! Peta just busted them on several counts of abuse toward their pigs! Guest guest
Yes! Make your own. Personally I prefer Trader Joe's brand of Vegetarian Chili if I don't have time to pull out the crockpot.Jenn <batmanusdmychina Sent: Wednesday, November 19, 2008 5:52:43 PMRe: Re: Here We Go Again Recipe Or make your own chili --- On Wed, 11/19/08, natenjade <lilbugga (AT) hawaii (DOT) rr.com> wrote:natenjade <lilbugga (AT) hawaii (DOT) rr.com> Re: Here We Go Again RecipeWednesday, November 19, 2008, 5:03 PM Please don't buy Hormel! Guest guest
Personally I'd much rather have your new post at the top -- the message you are replying to is still there if I want to read it, but I hate having to scroll through the previous message every time. In some groups I regularly have to scroll through 4 or 5 previous messages to get to the bottom of the post only to find all the poster has added was "thank you" or something short like that. That's a bit of a pain, you spend most of your time scrolling.Anna -------- To: Re: Re: Here We Go Again Recipe19/11/2008 06:52At the top works for me! alice On 19/11/2008, at 8:43 AM, Russell wrote: > BTW... Guest guest
How hard would it be to make a really fat free vegan (better) version in a crockpot? I can't imagine the canned version meets our requirements. If anyone has a recipe, please share it. Thanks. Y
