Guest guest
There's this 8-cup one and this 6-cup one with clay liners. (Looks like they're temporarily out of the larger one right now, though.) JD Schaefer How about rice cookers? Anyone have information on any cookers without non-stick interiors? Guest guest
Debbie Many thanks for the links. This is a non-stick cooking surface product that I asked about and you were kind enough to supply. I wanted this to be the answer to my search but am not yet convinced. Here are the results of what I came across. While probably a major improvement over Teflon, the manufacturer Essenenergy's website has a number of broken links and won't provide a lead-free certificate. There are numerous glowing reports about the cooker but mostly from vendors not consumers. There are several reviews on Amazon. Most are pleased but the ones concerned about the porous nature of the clay (extracted and assembled made in China) do not recommend purchase *http://tinyurl.com/7me4vz* . I'm sure that a clay pot would would work fine, I just wish this one came from a country with higher standards for manufacture. Guest guest
You're welcome for the info. I have no experience with these cookers, but was intrigued enough to save the links. It's not looking good, is it? Thanks for sharing your research with us. I'm looking into cooking rice in my pressure cooker using a stainless steel or ceramic bowl inside the (steel) cooker (I haven't tried that either). Not what you asked about, but here's a link anyway for those who might be interested. I have too many gadgets already. Debbie JD Schaefer wrote: Debbie Many thanks for the links. Guest guest
Why is that a problem? Carolyn wrote: I would not cook rice in a presure cooker, cooks to fast,
Guest guest
Rice will only take 7 min to cook, saw a guy on TV who put rice in a pot, then just enough water to cover, then cooks on low for 7 min, mind you I only boil the water then add the rice, and then turn off the heat, it then reduces the water, I dislike fluffy rice, fluffy is ok in a rice pud, Debbie Thursday, January 01, 2009 10:31 AM Re: Non-stick Cookware - rice cooker/slow cooker Why is that a problem?Carolyn wrote: I would not cook rice in a presure cooker, cooks to fast,
Guest guest
I prefer short-grain brown rice, which is moderately sticky, as brown rice goes. I don't think brown rice will cook in 7 minutes using your method (if it gets fully cooked at all); it's still 12-15 in a pressure cooker. I'm still not sure why cooking it fast is a problem, sounds like a plus to me. But it's great that there are so many different ways to cook rice, something for everybody!
