Guest guest
I forget which group it was in, but the question came up about pouring off the oil from the top of natural peanut butter. (I think it was E2L or FatFreeVegan, so this is a small bcc cross-post.) After some experimentation, the promised results are in, and I've posted them on my blog: http://www.zenpawn.com/vegblog/2009/03/20/pouring-off-nut-butter-oil/ -Erinhttp://www.ShopVeganRaw.com
Guest guest
Great research! After reading your results, I've decided that saving 18 calories of healthy, God-given fat is not worth the trade-off in taste and texture. (My philosophy is, we were designed to consume *that* fat, as opposed to, say, free-standing fats, which don't exist in nature.) - DJ-----------------------Always remember: Today's mighty oak is simplyyesterday's nut that held its ground... Guest guest
Thanks. I'd considered it " not too shabby " because two grams fewer fat for a serving that usually has 18 grams, is an 11% reduction. Whether that impresses or not -- and it was the best result, after all -- it was a fun (yummy) experiment. I agree the fat in natural nut butters is the kind to consume, but saying that is not orthogonal to also recommending a diet composed of no more than 15% of calories from fat, right? -Erin http://www.ShopVeganRaw.com http://www.zenpawn.com/vegblog - Dena Jo Friday, March 20, 2009 4:08 PM RE: oil floating on nut butter (small xpost) Great research!
