Guest guest
>Linda I think many people don't realize how many vegan recipes are also available online (although admittedly, not many with nutritional breakdowns). Cheaper than books! (but, I do enjoy paging through them... books, that is). Check out the following: http://www.pcrm.org/health/Recipes/ http://www.fatfreevegan.com http://www.drmcdougall.com/newsletter/recipeindex.html http://www.veganchef.com/ http://www.all-creatures.org/recipes.html You might have to " lessen " the oil, salt, and/or sugar on some, but they'll get you going. A search on " vegan recipes " will yield even more. Searching on a specific recipe like, " vegan stroganoff " often brings interesting and useful results. Also, awhile back I put links to some 10,000 veg'n recipes accessible on the http://www.madcowboy.com webpage, but it's been awhile and I haven't updated or validated them for a few years. I find myself referring to my cookbooks less and less over the years, and more from online sources (or, admittedly, memory). Recipes needing some degree of precision (say, seitan, bread, some faux cheese sauces) I generally do go back to various books/sources. Unless there's a specific nutritional need, I find that avoiding excessive use of oil (no oil preferred), nuts, avocados, sugar, sodium (tamari and soy sauce are sneaky, as well as Bragg's), is all I need to check for in the ingredients. IMHO, tofu and " whole " soy milk should be used with moderation, especially the former, which can be very high in fat calories unless using " lite " (which is still a bit high). Hope it goes well for you... Mark http://www.soulveggie.com
Guest guest
Mark - the site you list below all-creatures.org has an intriguing pizza recipe with tofu cream as the "cheese" layer and then sauce and veggies - it's twice cooked and sounds divine. I'll make it this weekend and report! Thank you so much for more vegan recipes as I'm getting into it again....JTOn Apr 9, 2009, at 6:27 AM, Mark Sutton wrote:>LindaI think many people don't realize how many vegan recipes are also available online (although admittedly, not many with nutritional breakdowns).
