Guest guest
I was reading Erin's blog entries and she mentioned using an immersion blender. I have one, but find it to be less effective at puree-ing soups than the food processor. I have a Cuisinart...am wondering if I have a bad brand or if anyone else finds theirs to clog (especially when doing broccoli soups) and leave a lumpy puree. Maybe I'm "doing it" wrong? And Erin...I really like your blog - You have great humor about your "lazy" recpies! I love them because I can make yummy healthy food in a hurry! Guest guest
I don't know what brands are better than others. When we got married, we combined kitchens and I got to use my husband's. I was hooked. My immersion blender doesn't handle spinach, broccoli, asparagus or other stringy foods too well either. However I really like to use it for tomatoes and starchy vegetables because that is when it tends to work the best. I guess I prefer it because the food doesn't splatter as I am transferring from the pot to processor or have to cool before I can puree it. I love my food processor though. Someone gave me one of the larger Cuisinarts with all of the weird attachments. I use it more than anything else in my kitchen. By the way, Thank you Gwen for your kind comments about my blog. Its nice to know that people are reading it. -Erin , " veggieblake " <veggies wrote: > > > I was reading Erin's blog entries and she mentioned using an immersion > blender. I've never had that problem with mine. It's a KitchenAid and it was $50 at Target. It was still new, less than a week old, and I didn't realize there was a " fill " line, and as the soup is whirling around I noticed a lot of it was coming out from under the processor cup! Oh, what a mess! I used that because my old immersion blender bit the dust, but after that I went right out and bought a new one. I never have a problem with lumps even using it with broccoli or other veggies or beans to make soup. I forget the brand, but it was one of the fairly cheap ones, around $20.
