Guest guest
Hello, Thought I'd say, Hi. I've been a fairly low-fat, health-oriented vegetarian for probably the past two or three decades. I took up the non-fat version for the past couple of years or so after getting the Esselstyn book and watching his brief appearance on public TV. It wasn't that much of a change for me. I went from about 160 to 150 pounds on a 6 foot frame. I grow greens in the yard year-round for unlimited kale, collards, mustard-greens, amaranth and New Zealand spinach as well as rosemary and sage for the pot, no trouble in the south. I'm a bachelor and largerly eat out of my programmable rice cooker. Fresh from the Vegetarian Rice Cooker, by Robin Robertson and Ultimate Rice Cooker with Beth Hensperger are my most used books and well worth getting. I use medium and long grain brown rice, lots of split peas, lentils and black-eyed peas and sundry beans and find it's easy to convert any " illegal " recipes. I've done whole-grain sourdough artisan breads and baking. Also I make and eat tons of non-fat veggie yogurt for pennies out of the soymilk machine. Take care everybody, & nice to meet you. I never heard of a rice cooker book from her. Of course, that doesn't mean it doesn't exist, just that I can't find it on Amazon. Guest guest
You gotta like a guy named Slim. Have to chuckle because I knew a guy in college whose nickname was " Skinny " and he was anything but! If I still knew him, I'd be telling him about Fuhrman, that's for sure. Welcome!! I make that in my soymilk maker (without soybeans) for my veggie yogurt. It tastes very good. It's truly non-fat, vegan, doesn't separate, needs no thickeners and sets on its own in the fridge to make a great spoonable, jellowy pudding texture that's fun to eat(!). You can ferment it to make yogurt or blend in fruit or chocolate and vanilla to make pudding. *************************************************** Hi Slim ~ Welcome to the group. I would love to see your LOM recipe. Also, when you have the time, I would love to see a couple of your most favorite recipes you do in your rice cooker. I have one that I only use to cook rice! I think you could help me expand my horizons! Thank you! Debbie "It's the cracked ones who let light into the world."
Guest guest
Hi Sue, Oops! Right you are. The correct title is Fresh from the Vegetarian SLOW cooker. I have a slow cooker too and a slow cooker function on my rice cooker. Didn't mean for any confusion. A lot of the recipes and ingredients are the same or very similar, of course, and can be swapped back and forth, which is a lot of the fun! , " Sue in NJ " <sue_in_nj wrote: > > >Fresh from the Vegetarian Rice Cooker, by Robin Robertson > > Do you mean her slow cooker book? A lot of the recipes and ingredients are the same or very similar, of course, and can be swapped back and forth, which is a lot of the fun! No problem. She has so many books out that I *didn't* know about until I visited her web site, I thought maybe this was another one that was maybe out of print. Thanks.
