Boil some egg noodles (no yolk are fine) al dente and pour over frozen petite

peas in a colander. Reserve a little water. Put all back in pasta cooker

with a little reserved water, add butter or oil or combination, some dry

grated cheese, fresh or granulated garlic and a few red pepper flakes or

chopped fresh basil. Olive slivers are nice, too. Serve with green salad,

marinated tomatoes and good bread. I use lots of peas for crunch. It's

comfort food.

For pasta, we just started using the Spirooli. Makes thicker " noodles " but

still quite thin. Also, zuke " noodles " aren't as wet as with the Saladacco,

and my kids will eat them from the Spirooli. David Wolfe sells it, not sure

who else.

Can you kindly give me the website address to purchase the spirooli?

most of the pastas you find in the freezer/refrigerated section will be made with eggs

always read the ingredient list....

i've found a number of dry pastas with ferrous lactate in them, so, no go....

I have found pastas with eggs in the grocery store. They seem to mainly be the "fresh" ones. Recently, I found a boxed pasta that's whole grain with flax. Hope the store doesn't realize it's "healthy"...or else it'll be on the way out. LOL , veganfitness wrote:>> > Sorry my reply button went off before I finished my e-mail. Someone from another vegan chat-room informed me that most pastas out of the box are fine to eat and vegetarian; however, sometimes Italian restaurants that make their own pastas actually use eggs. Yeah, reading is a basic survival skill...found out some gross stuff

was in food that's technically vegan...lol I'm still trying to

completely rid myself of " high fructose corn syrup " . I keep finding it

in some unexpected places...sigh...

I actually found vegan worcestershire sauce! Not a clue what to do

with it but I just had to get it!! <grin> Any ideas? :)

Isn't Worcestershire sauce a high salt food or is just sugar that you worry

about.

Yes, I had to go look though. LMAO I was just so excited to find it

labeled " vegan " and " organic " I almost made a scene...lol I think,

somewhere, I have a recipe for carrots using this. I put the recipe

away because the only part of it I didn't have was the wor. sauce.

LOL Now I have the sauce and I'm not sure where I put the

recipe...figures. <grin>

I will try the portobellos. :)

OK, I had to go check the bottle again...most action it's gotten!

LOL It says a serving is one teaspoon and that has 120 mg of sodium

per serving. I have NO clue if that's a lot?

I don't really watch my intake of sugar per se, it's just the

source. Also, through necessity, I usually have to cook from scratch

so there isn't much salt or sugar in most of what I make. LOL I

grew up cooking for a dad who had a heart condition (so no salt) and

then he became diabetic. I've never had a problem with either one,

but weirdly I did have a doc, once, who told me to just eat straight

salt...bleccch. I have " low body fluid levels " . (And low blood

pressure.) Oh please. LOL And yeah, I switched docs. <grin>

I honestly can't remember what's bad about the high fructose corn

syrup, my daughter told me to dump it, but I forgot why. LOL Right

now I'm trying to figure out how to make italian dressing, the only

vegan ones I'm finding still have the corn syrup. I use it for pasta

salad and for marinades.

It doesn't sound too bad, because consumption of it is very low. I'll check

again on what the recommended amounts of salt/sodium are and get back to

you.

When I answered you before I mentioned that I couldn't remember about

the high fructose corn syrup and I wish I hadn't decided to look.

Utterly gross. One of the resources I found mentioned that the

chemicals used to create it are genetically modified, and the corn

probably is too. Just gets better from there...sigh...

Why? It's so annoying to hunt for tomatoes that don't have fish or

clam genes, broccoli without fungicides built in...etc. At the

farmer's market I've heard a lot of complaints from the farmers who

aren't going with gm that the gm crops will blow over and mess up

their crops. Is there any chance to sway them back to progressively

safe?

It's a shame that other countries don't see what a mess we have (on a

lot of various topics), and realize that gmo is NOT the way to go.

Starlink corn was a complete mess, and we are just now starting to

get a momentum going away from gmo. sigh...

sadly, i can see this only going away if some total disaster happens, like a bunch of people dying, or a terminator seed getting out into the wild and wiping out a forest...........
