Guest guest
Hi all, My copy of the MWLP book is back at home, which is about 15 hours away from me at the moment. Was hoping someone could fill me in on this. For the last few days I've made excuses to myself that, as long as everything else I ate was McDougall-friendly, I could enjoy my salad rolls from the work canteen for lunch if they were on wholemeal bread and not white. I talked myself out of it today, ate the salad fillings, and have since been staring longingly at the sad-looking, beetroot-tinged droopy bread rolls I have neglected. So what exactly does John McDougall say in the book about why flour should be cut out of the diet? If someone could quote or summarise the facts for me, I'm sure I'll be less likely to make excuses or feel bad about leaving out the bread. Guest guest
" The MWL plan is for those persons with stubborn weight problems that don't respond to the 12-day diet and severely limits consumption of grain products other than grains cooked whole -- even bread made from whole wheat is eliminated. " Source: http://www.fatfree.com/diets/mcdougall.html Hope that helps! Guest guest
Foods you should eat: All whole grains and whole-grain cereals, such as brown rice, corn, oatmeal, barley, millet, and wheat berries; many packaged grain cereals, puffed grains, and other healthful cereals. Avoid the following: All flour products, such as breads, bagels, and pretzels. The less a food is processed the better it is for weight loss. Flour products are composed of fragments of grain, or relatively small particles, which increase absorption and slow weight loss.
