Silicone Bakeware? Safety and Smoke Detectors!!

Hi everyone, your thoughts on silicone bakeware? I know Mary McDougall uses and recommends for FF baking. However EWG seems to think they are not safe? And I must say ea time I use them the fumes set off my smoke alarm and really startle my dogs and ME!!

Other suggestions? Since baking without oil causes half the muffin to stick to the paper cupcake liners.
