We have been popping popcorn in our wok! Our fave seasonings so far are chili

pepper (me & dh) & cinnamon-sugar (kids). we still add plenty of butter, tho.

Hello groupies,

For a healthier popcorn, pop organic popcorn in your hot air popper ,

sprinkle with either spray olive oil or reg. bottle olive oil. Season

with your favorite spices or plain sea salt. A touch of organic sugar

is great also.

If you have been addicted to microwave popping corn you will be

surprised at how inexpensive bulk organic pop corn is compared to the

packaged kind and so much better for you if hot air popped.

If he truly is allergic to corn, he obviously can't

have it in any form, including popcorn. I suggest you

take him to an allergy doctor and have him tested for

allergies, though.

*sigh* Hopefully I'm wrong then. Our insurance doesn't cover an allergy doc

and we don't have the money to go without it. I'd love to get all of my kids

tested, but there just isn't room in the budget right now for it.

Just try eliminating it (in all forms) for a couple weeks, and see if

he improves -- my son can't have gluten, casein, corn, or soy,

A nice corn free snack is pumpkin seeds, I know kids who love them. Just get

the raw kind from a natural food store, put a bunch in a pan with oil, seasoning

mix of your choice (I like a mild curry, but just salt is great) and saute on

high heat, stirring constantly until they are mostly popped. By popped, I mean

they just swell and burst. Another snack I like, and combine with the pumpkin

is baked garbanzo beans. Toss with oil and seasoning, bake at like 400 until

crunchy, stirring every 15 minutes.

Hello,

My daughter can not tolerate gluten, dairy or corn. There were several signs

but the biggest one was eczema. She also had red cheeks all the time. It

looked like she had been out in the snow. She actually looked really cute with

red cheeks but they disappeared after a few weeks off gluten, dairy and corn.

Her eczema cleared and the dark circles under her eyes started to go away. She

also stopped having uncontrollable temper tantrums. It is worth it to remove

corn just to see what happens but you have to try it for a few months to really

tell if it will help or not. Renee S.

So loving making popcorn with a hot air popper. Id like to add some nutritional

yeast but it doesnt stick to the popcorn and ends up in the bottom of the bowl.

How are you making popcorn these days and what if anything are you putting on

it? And how!!?

Thanks

Tom

This is weird, but lately I've been spraying popcorn with balsamic vinegar before adding the nutritional yeast. There's a brand in the imported foods section of our supermarket that comes in a spray bottle.  I like vinegary things, so this may not be a solution for everybody.

Braggs has MSG ?!?!?! That would explain the migraines !!! What does it say on the label? Does it say monosodium glutamate or call it by another name. I try to be so careful about not eating anything with it or I pay dearly by being totally

sick.

Sounds great to me...I used to be addicted to vinegar and salt potato chips.

I might try this as a flavoring for some of my home dehydrated snacks.

Another name here is a discussion thread about it.  It is true that they used to say msg on the label and had to remove that because it was a lie.  http://www.welikeitraw.com/rawfood/2005/06/bragg_liquid_am.html

I was so upset when I found this out, but have felt much better since getting it out of my house since I also have problems with MSG.
