Looking for recipes for either a whole wheat/whole grain or a gluten free bread.

Must be regular oven bake, as I don't currently have a bread machine. Must be

quick and easy, for a beginning breadmaker. Anyone have such a recipe? Marilyn

Im glad this question got posed. I, too, like to bake bread in the oven and do not own a bread maker. I am a beginner. The only bread I have been able to make so far is Anadama bread. I would love to try others. It is difficult to find simple vegan receipes.

Alice the web site you referred to says it does not exist? Any other suggestions?--- On Thu, 3/4/10, youhavehowmany <youhavehowmany wrote:

For a Brit " easy " and " whole wheat " suggest the " Grant loaf " (named after its

inventor, Doris Grant). I grew up on this, and fed my family on it for many

years. A couple of addresses to show what I'm talking about (I still haven't

worked out how to post links):

http://www.taste-of-home-recipes.com/breads/the-grant-loaf.html

http://thezest.wordpress.com/2008/01/10/bread-heads-our-easiest-ever-loaf/

Over here we measure flour etc by weight rather than in cups, and my (and the

U.S. expat side of my family's) experience is that a different wheat is used for

wholewheat flour on either side of the Atlantic, so I'm reluctant to post my own

recipe, but the two links come from either side of the divide. I hope that they

may be of some use.

Another great bread baking resource is breadtopia.com. There are no gluten-free

recipes, but there are lots of recipes and videos of no-kneed breads. Although

most have at least a little (white) bread flour, you can sub that easily enough

with WW, just add a tablespoon of vital wheat gluten per cup of WW flour.

The web addy Alice sent was not posted so that it was all highlighted, so if you clicked on it, it didn't work. Just type it in yourself and it should come up. It did for me, and the website is great! Marilyn
