Guest guest
I love TJ's. I have a few must have's that come to mind. Their no slat 21 Spice Salut seasoning, agave nectar and maple syrup (great prices), Tahitian vanilla, coffee and tea, middle eastern flat bread, masala frozen vegan burgers, soy yogurt, body lotion, rice milk, aprocot sauce, dried fruits for baking, nuts, licorice, multi assorted peppercorns, raw sugar, they sell a bag of cleaned chopped multi greens ready to cook in the produce coller section, no aluminum baking powder, and probably 100 more items. Oh don't pass up the rice cracker and chip isle there's all kinds of good munchies. Have fun and take a cooler with you to pack up. I'm going to a Trader Joe's for the first time in a few days [to Columbus, OH area...2+ hours from us] and I'm wondering what your favorite, must have items are from the store. Our family is vegan...I'll be looking for items with no dairy and very low to no added oil. Of course, I'm hoping to bring home some things I can't get locally in our rural grocery stores, whether it's cooking/baking supplies or main meal items or whatever. I am a member of a local natural/organic foods coop - supplier United Natural Foods, so I do have access to lots of great foods, but it is nice to try new things before buying a large quantity of this and that so that's also what I'm hoping to do with this trip to Trader Joe's...try some of the products that you all say are super duper and must try! Guest guest
In no particular order, here are some of our TJs (vegan)Â regulars (I was there today): organic strawberries, frozen pineapple, taco seasoning (I use it with lentils and sweet potatoes), organic whole wheat pasta, organic fuji apples, organic romaine, broccoli slaw, WW handmade tortillas, tuscan salad dressing, kiwi, whole grain pita chips, organic dried cranberries,
Guest guest
Judy, I am not sure what you want, but arrive at Trader Joe's early. It is an experience. You might want to take some pictures, especially outside. Bring some money because they have everything. Are you going to the one in Fairfield? It is a fantastic store. Guest guest
Wow...what a pleasant surprise to find all these suggestions online this morning! One person also suggested going to the Trader Joe's site and just viewing ahead of time the items marked as being vegan...so I won't be so overwhelmed browsing through everything in the store. Super! Honing in on this a bit more? I guess what I'd like to know is: If a close friend living a distance from you said, " I'm heading to a Trader Joe's for the first time, so what item or two (including the brand name), would you recommend I buy and try...your two favorite products? " Thanks, guys! Judy in Ohio P.S. I guess I'm looking for your very favorite products, kind of like telling a friend, " Here are my two favorite recipes that our family absolutely loves! Guest guest
Hi Judy, I am in Columbus, and I frequent Trader Joe's quite a bit. If you're going to the one in Easton, there's a community market close by that has great selection of vegan products. Send me an email, and I can give you directions. Some of the Vegan items I enjoy:Trader Joe's Soy ChirizoEggplant CaponataArtichoke Anti-PastoSo Delicious Orange CreamyGoddess DressingAssortment of snacks, their products are marked as Vegan clearly too. Guest guest
Thanks so much, Victoria...and all who responded. Will head to their website and browse the vegan listings. I'm REALLY looking forward to going since I've so often heard others speak online about this and that from Trader Joe's. Hubby and I have eaten plant based for over a year now and a couple of physical conditions have been reversed; I have lost a chunk of weight and feel so much better; and I'm also now off all medications, including blood pressure medicine I was on for years - with the blessing of my doctor! Pretty exciting. Judy in Ohio P.S. David specifically shared a couple things, but honing in on this...I guess what I'd like to know from you guys is: If someone said to you, " If a close friend of yours is headed to a Trader Joe's for the first time, what item or two (including the brand name), would you encourage him or her to buy and try? " P.P.S. So I guess I'm looking for your very favorite products, kind of like " Here are two of my favorite recipes that our family absolutely loves! That should cut down half the work for you. We get organic produce from them, but also get their tempeh and baked tofu. They also carry our favorite store bought hummus, the roasted red pepper, but the other flavors are really good too. > Have fun! > ~Victoria > >

Guest guest
We love TJ's. Unfortunately for us, it is a bit of trip also, but well worth it. I love all their produce. Although not fat free their cilantro jalapeno hummus is very good with their flat bread or naan bread and some sprouts is a meal for me. The rice pasta and some of the frozen vegetables are also good. The almond milk, miso soups are reasonably priced. Enjoy, Michelle , " jdg682 " <jdg682 wrote: > > > Hi, everyone: > > Can you give me your input? Guest guest
Hi, Judy! I've been addicted to Trader Joe's " Salsa Autentica " for more years than I can remember... I honestly don't know if life would be worth living if they stopped carrying it! ;-) Also, their canned corn (yes, canned!) is impossibly crisp and sweet. Don't know how they do it. Two Buck Chuck! If you imbibe, you can't beat the deal (although where I live, the " two buck " is actually three bucks) -- so be sure to bring home two or three bottles to try so that if you like the wine, you can stock up on more the next time you head out to TJ's. Now, I know that this is a " fat free " group, but sometimes I get the Cherry Chocolate Chip vegan ice cream there, especially if we have company, and people can't believe it's vegan. It's really fantastic. By the way, Susan, the Fat Free Vegan website just gets better and better. Kudos! Thanks for being there to help those of us who really do want to eat more fat free, despite the occasional splurge! :-) , " jdg682 " <jdg682 wrote: > > > Hi, everyone: > > Can you give me your input? Guest guest
I LOVE Trader Joe's. Their wine is the best and most reasonable in price. My 16 year old rescue cat will only eat Trader Joe's canned cat foods. At her age, she cannot handle dry food anymore. I also swear by their laundry detergent. I think you need to just get a cart and cruise the store. Also, take your own bags. In my area in Illinois, if you bring your own bags you get entered in a weekly drawing for a $25 gift certificate. If they do not offer, ask the cashier about this. They take credit, debit cards and the state welfare cards. in Northern Illinois  Judy, I am not sure what you want, but arrive at Trader Joe's early. Guest guest
The one in Fresno is not that great. Last time I went I looked for soy yogurt and they didn't have any. The wine section was huge but I don't drink wine. I did pick up a few things though. I was looking for fat free pasta sauce and salad dressing but they didn't have any. Guest guest
Thanks, Jodi. That's exactly what I plan to do. I'm going with my two married daughters (both eat vegetarian) and 11-year-old granddaughter and each of us are taking coolers. One daughter has been to Trader's once and the other daughter, like me, has never been to one. It'll be a fun girls' day out...we plan to find a vegetarian/vegan restaurant too in the " big city " - LOL - as we don't have such a thing in the area where we live...have to head west 1+ hour drive to find a vegetarian restaurant. Thanks again everyone for all your ideas; I think I'll be much better prepared for hitting the aisles of Trader Joe's now. This Trader's is in a marketplace type area so my girls of course want to hit some of the popular stores too the day we go to Columbus;I won't have all day in Trader's (4-5 hours of driving just to get there and back that day) so it will really be helpful to have this input and I'll just head to some of those sections of the store, looking for some of the items you mentioned! Hubby and I eat vegan and someone mentioned going to the Trader Joe's site to glean through the " vegan listings " before I go too...so that's where I'm heading right now! Guest guest
Now I can say I've been to a Trader Joe's store! We went last weekend; I came back with fresh and frozen items, bagged greens, grain mixtures, whole grain breads, soy milk, Italian soy " sausages " , seasonings including 21 Salute and Rainbow Peppercorns, baked tofu, soy chirizo and several other items. By the way...David, you mentioned using the soy chirizo to make enchiladas. Would you be willing to share your enchilada recipe? Oh, it was a pleasant surprise to find such reasonable prices too!
