(Wenatchee) -- Officials in Chelan County in Eastern Washington says a Port Angeles man died in a fatal hunting accident Sunday. Chelan County Chief Criminal Deputy Jeff Middleton says a 36-year-old P.A. man belonged to a five-member hunting party of friends and family. The Spokesman Review newspaper in Spokane reports his identity has not been released pending notification of relatives.Officials say the victim was seated on the driver¢s side of his truck, which he¢d parked while waiting for two of the hunters.Middleton says as one of the men unloaded his .270-caliber rifle nearby, it fired, sending a bullet fragment through the truck¢s back window, striking the victim from behind. He died at the scene. The accident marred the last weekend's start of deer hunting season, where thousands of hunters participated in Eastern Washington.
