Guest guest
I love these, just relocated my recipe so here it is. I had to give them a good name and these way back then popped into my mind. These are eggless and you can sub. milk for soy milk. Donna Bohemian Cookies 1 1/4 cups flour 1 cup hazelnuts, chopped fine pinch of salt 1 cup vegetable shortening 1 1/4 cups powdered sugar 3/4 cup milk or soy milk 1 tsp. vanilla extract *I like to add a pinch of cardamom , goes good with the hazelnuts* Preheat oven to 300 degrees. Combine the flour, hazelnuts and salt. In a large bowl, cream the vegetable shortening and powdered sugar. Beat in the milk and vanilla. Gradually blend in the dry ingredients. Break off small pieces of dough and form into balls. Place each ball 1 inch apart on ungreased baking sheets. Bake for 35 to 40 minutes or until lightly colored. Transfer to rack to cool. *Note* I refrigerate dough for about 30 mins. Makes it so much easier to roll into balls. I find hazelnuts for a very good price at Trader Joe's if you have access to one near you.
