Guest guest
The glorious days of May are upon us. Tomorrow is May Day and Friday is Cinco de Mayo [great day of the week for that to fall on]. Next week on Saturday we have Wesak (Buddhist holiday), and Sunday the 14th is Mother's Day! Then: May 20th -Armed Forces Day May 22nd - Victoria Day (Canada) May 25th - Ascension (Christian) May 29th - Memorial Day [observed] i guess you could say the month of May marks the begining of the outdoor summer party season. Our QOTW [questions of the week] for April 30th- May 6th: What May holidays does your family observe? Do you have any special recipes you enjoy this time of year? Share any May holiday party tips, ideas, or recipes. ~ pt ~ The true man sings gladly in the bright day, sings loudly of May - fair-aspected season. ~ John Matthews, " From the Isles of Dream "
Guest guest
You have exhausted me just reading the list of May holidays. Mother's Day my daughter and I spend together the whole day and do whatever it is that I want to do. We get up early, have coffee and a treat somewhere out and then onto the planned day which means it is dependent on the weather, the movies available, and whatever tweaks me. I am hoping that maybe this year the weather will be right and we can toot over to the coast only an hour away. That is really the only day that we " celebrate " I suppose you would call it, but the whole month of May is one big celebration as the sun is back. Memorial Day I light candles in the Jewish fashion and remember those that I loved that are not with me any longer and think about the fact that each moment needs to be lived and loved since I might not have the next moment to enjoy the things here on earth, like friends, children, birds, animals, and all of nature. Special recipes would just be whatever is fresh and organic that entices me. linda " ~ PT ~ " <patchouli_troll > The glorious days of May are upon us. > Tomorrow is May Day and Friday is Cinco de Mayo > [great day of the week for that to fall on]. > Next week on Saturday we have Wesak (Buddhist holiday), > and Sunday the 14th is Mother's Day! > Then: > May 20th -Armed Forces Day > May 22nd - Victoria Day (Canada) > May 25th - Ascension (Christian) > May 29th - Memorial Day [observed] > i guess you could say the month of May marks the begining > of the outdoor summer party season. > > Our QOTW [questions of the week] for April 30th- May 6th: > > What May holidays does your family observe? > Do you have any special recipes you enjoy this time of year? > Share any May holiday party tips, ideas, or recipes. > > ~ pt ~

Guest guest
Hi PT The sig line to your post reminded me of the May Day tradition here in Edinburgh. We have a long-extinct volcano called Arthur's Seat fairly near to the centre of town and the tradition is that young women climb up to the top of Arthur's Seat and bathe their faces in the dew as dawn breaks on May 1st. The Beltane Fire Festivities take place on Calton Hill on the night of 30th April to welcome in the summer and can get pretty wild. Christie , " ~ PT ~ " <patchouli_troll wrote: > > Yep! Guest guest
My post made you feel tired? *lol* No, i think you are just exhausted from unpacking and trying to get all settled into your new home. i liked reading how you and your daughter are planning to honor you for Mother's Day, and your way of celebrating Memorial Day is very lovely, too. ~ pt ~ What is life?Ê It is the flash of a firefly in the night. Guest guest
That sounds like fun! i wish i could be there to take part in those festivities! That sig line quote came from a Celtic lore book, so must be that is where the tradition of bathing in dew on May Day began and each community adds their own spin. ~ pt ~ May my strength be increased, May my tomb not be readied, May I not die on my journey, May my return be ensured to me. ~ early Irish invocation (trans.
