Guest guest
I'm doing pretty well. Going up to Tacoma on the 22nd - planning to go to the FolkLife at least a couple of days (contra dance addict). I'm still living out - I call my spot Camp Crouching Cougar. Many plants in bloom, and I'm especially watching the wild strawberry plants. Spending lots of time on Myspace - www.myspace.com/the_antipreophogist.... , " ~ PT ~ " <patchouli_troll wrote: > > Good to hear from you. Guest guest
That's wonderful. Sounds like fun. Is FolkLife a sort of music festival? Good veg eats there? Oh, and speaking of wildlife, i am having some trouble with a little possum who just won't leave my backyard, even though i have three Jack Russel terriers! Several relocation attempts have failed; he just comes back! Cute little guy too, and i would hate for my dogs to get ahold of him, but keeping him safe from harm is a chore... he seems to have no fear of man nor beast, and " playing possum " is his prefered defense. Any advice from Camp Crouching Cougar? ~ PT ~ " To be able to greet the sun with the sounds from all of Nature is a great blessing, and it helps us to remember Who is the real provider of all of our benefits. Guest guest
Linda already gave you the basic spiel about FolkLife. Check out the website at www.folklife.org <http://www.folklife.org> or www.nwfolklife.org <http://www.nwfolklife.org> . One thing that Linda left out that should be emphasized is that it's FREE! It's the world's largest free festival of it's kind. Optionally, you can buy a button or t-shirt to help them raise funds to keep it going. I mainly go for the dancing, including various forms of contra dancing and international folk dancing. Of course, there's tons of food options, but I'm usually on a budget, so I hit the nearby grocers for things like fresh juices and wraps. Possums are characters. They're non-native, so there's no help from places like Wildlife Images should a possum get into trouble. They're very adaptive since they eat about anything, but otherwise they're not the brightest of the mammals. They have about a dozen per litter - can be as many as 20. They're not physically adapted to our cold, being native to the southeast US - " Virginia opossum " is their full common name - so they're susceptible to frost bite, especially in their ears and toes, so an older possum that's been through a few winters will look a bit ragged. They like garages, attics and under houses, apparently attracted to where they will be warmer in the winter. They seem to get set in their ways, so once they decide they have a home, it's difficult to convince them otherwise. My grandfather up in Forest Grove had one that spent about a decade not being convinced to move out of the wood shed no matter what tactics my grandfather tried. There are some people who keep them as pets. They grab food like a raccoon or human, so it's easy to see them as a kind of funny person. You will probably have better luck teaching your terriers to help protect the possum..... , " ~ PT ~ " <patchouli_troll wrote: > > That's wonderful.
