Guest guest
I tried these two snacky type of recipes. They were excellent. I didn't stick with the measurements because I used different amounts of peanuts and I added cheerios to the pretzel recipe. I just grabbed 1 small can of cocktail peanuts and added the ingredients roughly. I used a fresh Thai pepper (for those Twister folks you can add in garlic and peppers into your Twister and go to town that way, therefore no garlicky fingers or stingy fingers when you go to scratch or rub your eye/nose and such). I left out the salt. I added plain cheerios to the already salted pretzels. Again I ommitted the salt. I also added fresh garlic and a Thai pepper to this one. These are two different recipes but are good together as in one of those chexy mixes. The peanuts are cumin-y and the other have a salty rich flavor to them. Good combo. I saw these at AJ's group. I don't have the addy off hand so maybe " AJ " could give us a linky. Photos... http://ph./photos/view/aded?b=26 http://ph./photos/view/aded?b=27 Oh, the pretzel thing was made in a skillet. It works just as well. Just start up the butter on " low " and add in the soy sauce and spices - then dump in the pretzels and then the cheerios (or whatever you'd like in order to create your own recipe) and stir constantly. Got a good amount out of it that way. Let it sit out to regain its crunch. Good way of doing it without heating up the oven. Cheerio, S. ---- Hot Peanuts (nuts improve with standing) 4 garlic cloves, minced 2 tbsps. olive oil 1 1/2 to 2 tsps. crushed hot red pepper 1/2 tsp. ground cumin 2 lbs. dry-roasted peanuts 1 tsp. kosher salt 1 tsp. chili powder In a large frying pan, cook garlic in olive oil over moderate heat for 1 minute. Add hot pepper and cumin. Mix in peanuts and cook, stirring, 2 minutes. Sprinkle with coarse salt and chili powder. Mix well and store in a covered jar or tin. 2 lbs nuts. Zippy Pretzels Pretzels are a simple, and dressed up, they're even better! 5 ozs. unsalted pretzels, about 4 cups, mini size 2 tsps. butter, melted 4 tsps. low-salt soy sauce 1/4 tsp. cayenne pepper, or to taste 1 tsp. garlic powder, with parsley 1/2 tsp. table salt Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Toss the pretzels with butter, spread on a baking pan and bake 5 minutes. Sprinkle with soy, cayenne, garlic powder and salt; toss. Bake 2 minutes. Cool completely. Makes 6 servings. Guest guest
Cheerios? Did I hear someone mention cheerios? I had four sons, but used cheerios to teach them to hit the target not to eat. Get my drift? Is that how you came to know about cheerios too? <smirking> Just keeping you on your toes! linda <grinning> " subprong " <subprong > > I added plain cheerios to the ..... What? Guest guest
Awesome munchies, Shawn; great photos! Looks like you are ready for watching the next big game. Thanks for sharing these. i just recently added your crockpot snack mix recipe to the files, too. Do you still make that one? ~ pt ~ It's a sign of mediocrity when you demonstrate gratitude in moderation. ~Roberto Benigni ~~~*~~~*~~~> , subprong <subprong wrote: > > Photos... > > http://ph./photos/view/ aded?b=26 > http://ph./photos/view/ aded?b=
