Toasted Hippy Granola 2 cups old fashioned rolled oats 1/2 cup flaked coconut 1/4 cup roasted sunflower seeds 1/4 cup chopped walnuts or almonds 1/2 cup chopped dates [or chopped dried apricots] 1/2 cup raisins 1/2 cup wheat germ 1/3 cup packed brown sugar 1/4 cup vegetable oil 2 Tbs. water 1 tsp. vanilla extract [or almond] 1. Preheat over to 300ûF. 2. Combine the first eight ingredients in a big mixing bowl. 3. Combine vegetable oil, water and vanilla in a dish. 4. Pour the liquid mixture over the granola and stir well. 5. Spread the granola mixture on an ungreased baking pan. 6. Bake in oven for about 25 minutes, stirring every so often. 7. Remove pan from oven and allow to cool completely before breaking it up and storing it in a covered container. All of the delicious ingredients in the grains, nuts and dried fruits... it would be really hard to flub this recipe up.
