Guest guest
Thank you, PT. I wasn't aware that there is vegan margarine or, for that matter, dry soy milk. I shall have to stop running in the store, grabbing things, and running back out. I do this to lower my grocery bill <smile> My mother made white gravy which she served with ham. It is a great memory. She also made creamed chip beef. Sigh. I'm sure that, like T-bone steak, my system could no longer tolerate it. Guest guest
i know what you mean, Diana. My mom would always make creamed-pea-tuna-on-toast, and it was just tuna and canned peas in a white sauce she would have us dish up on top of toasted bread; brings back memories ~ good ones~ though i do not eat tuna anymore. i was thinking i might try making something similar but veg one day, but i haven't gotten around to it. Part of it is that if i make it different it won't be the same nostalgia-wise, if that makes sense. But the vegan white sauce is definately doable and people enjoy Donna's savory sauce, though i personally haven't tried that one yet. Let us know what you come up with. ~ PT ~ No metaphysician ever felt the deficiency of language so much as the grateful. ~ Charles Caleb Colton, author and clergyman (1780-1832) ~~~*~~~*~~~> , diana scott <dianascot_33 wrote: > > Thank you, PT. Guest guest
Smart Balance Light is Vegan. The Regular Smart Balance has Whey. We love this stuff. It has no transfat and has a wonderful buttery taste. We used it for in cooking and baking recipes all the time with great results. We like the Better Than Milk Plain powdered milk very much. Guest guest
Earth Balance rules, too. Very convincing taste, fabulous for baking, no trans fats. Fleishman's Unsalted should be vegan too, and if you have lowes foods around, their store brand is usually vegan. Veronica At 05:40 PM 6/21/2006 -0500, you wrote: >Smart Balance Light is Vegan.
