Guest guest
Here is a good old fashioned pound cake recipe that I love. I really enjoy the strange combo [to me anyways] of adding black pepper into a sweet cake. The original recipe called for 2 teaspoons of lemon extract, but I prefered only one and then adding another teaspoon of vanilla extract. This is just rich and delicious so give it a try for yourself soon. Black Pepper Pound Cake 1 cup butter, softened 3 cups sugar 3 tsp. coarsely ground black pepper 1 tsp. lemon extract 1 tsp. vanilla extract 6 eggs 3 cups all-purpose flour 1 cup heavy whipping cream Confectioners' sugar, for dusting In a large bowl, cream the butter and sugar. Beat in pepper and extracts. Add eggs, one at a time, beating very well after each addition. Add flour alternately with cream; mix well. Pour into a greased and floured bundt pan. Bake at 325?F for 70 to 75 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted near center comes out clean. Cool for 10 minutes before removing from pan to cool completely. Dust with confectioners' sugar. Yield: 16 servings ~ PT ~ I didn't realize people took songs so seriously, and it made me wonder whether I ought to consider the consequences of what I write. ~ Jim Morrison
