Guest guest
I have frozen it. It keeps well alright...but to use it after it thaws is " iffy. " If I use it in sauces, it curdles. I don't like the consistency after it's been frozen. Joanie
Guest guest
Can I freeze brick-style cream cheese? Philly brands says I can for up to 2 months, but everything else I've read says it doesn't freeze well. Does anyone have experience? Thanks! Guest guest
I have never tried to freeze and defrost cream cheese before. Is there a reason you want to do so, like perhaps you found a bargain on a bunch and wanted to stock up? Like you, everything I have read about the results of the defrosted cream cheese is quite iffy. ~ PT ~ Time is like money, the less we have of it to spare the further we make it go. ~ Josh Billings (1818-1885) ~~~*~~~*~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~> , Meg <itszen4me wrote: > > Can I freeze brick-style cream cheese? > Philly brands says I can for up to 2 months, but everything else I've > read says it doesn't freeze well. Guest guest
the reason is because with a sale and coupons I can buy 10 bricks for around $.19 a piece. Considering the best sale here is around $.75, that's a deal. I dont want it for recipes though (hubby says I am the only person who doesnt like cheesecake), I want it to schmear all over my bagels. So, I guess I will buy all 10 and share the wealth and just keep 2 for myself. I suppose I could freeze and defrost to mash in with my guacamole, that's always good. Guest guest
I've frozen cream cheese and nuefchatel (lite cream cheese) defrosted it's crumbly instead of smooth but still tasted great on a bagel - the main thing I use it for too LOL Peace Angela Meg <itszen4me wrote: the reason is because with a sale and coupons I can buy 10 bricks for around $.19 a piece. Guest guest
That is a bargain! Good for you... I think your idea to share them with other is so nice. Don't let me deter you from trying to freeze some. You might have good enough results for using it to spread on a breakfast bagel; if you do give it a try, let us know how it works out. ~ PT ~ By fighting, you never get enough, but by yielding, you get more than you expected. ~ Lawrence G.
