i guess everyone goes thru mispronounciations at one

point or another. i've had trouble with 'chipotles'

too. lol. my parents are the worst. one night we

went out to eat at a vietnamese place and my mom and

dad kept going on about needing some hoisin sauce, but

they were pronouncing it like WHO-sane...our waiter

was clueless...as was i. cracked me up. also, when my

parents first started toying with veganism when i was

in high school, they would pronounce it vay-gan. my

boyfriend and i always laughed and agreed it was a

good pronounciation for them....it was like they were

from another planet (vega). and i agree that it is

fun to mispronounce words on purpose sometimes.

This thread is making me smile - my G'pa always calls tofu toofoo and

we think it's so cute we do too sometimes. He's been fascinated by

soy for years - blew up my G'ma's pressure cooker way back in the

60's messing around with soybeans - boy was she mad lol.

Peace,

Diane

The ones I always screw up are Nasturtiums and Worcestershire. Especially

the former. I always have to ask people how to pronounce it! One I also

used to screw up was Tinnitus. I had read it but just couldn't get it out

right. :)

As an anime geek, one that used to drive me nuts was hearing people

pronounce " Pokemon " as " Pokey-man " . :)
