Guest guest
If i'm really thirsty I like unsweetened iced tea. If it's with a meal I like ice water or sweet tea. I LOVE sangria, I'm abstaining right now, but I LOVE SANGRIA. I had hubby make me some non-alcoholic and it was ok, but there is nothing like a batch of sangria made with fresh fruit and cinnamin sticks. Ummmmmm. What I do not like is soda, which I am finding I tolerate less and less as I age. Meg On 7/16/06, ~ PT ~ <patchouli_troll wrote: > > QOTW [questions of the week] for July 16th - 22nd: > > 1. Guest guest
Sugar Free Cream Soda 8 ounces fizzy water 1 ounce (good squirt) DaVinci sugar free vanilla syrup Tablespoon heavy cream (optional) Pour fizzy water into glass. Add good squirt sugar free vanilla syrup. Stir. Add ice, put tablespoon cream on top, if wanted. Also works with all other flavors of sugar free or with sugar syrups. http://www.davincigourmet.com/729.html?flashdetect=YES Southern USA iced tea (sugar alert!!!!!!!!!!!!) 4 regular size teabags 1 cup sugar water Put teabags in small saucepan, cover with water. (About a cup or two). Bring almost to a boil, let sit till cool but not entirely cool. Remove teabags, do NOT squeeze. (bitterness) Pour tea into 2 quart container, stir in sugar, stirring till dissolved. Add water to fill pitcher, serve over ice. Lemon slices or mint are a Yankee affectation and we don't do that down here. (pronounced heaaaah) Please note: If you travel down South, be prepared to ask for UNsweetened tea because otherwise you WILL get sweet tea. REALLY sweet tea. Trust Auntie Jeanne on this. Since I'm diabetic I avoid all sugar sweetened beverages, because I can't see the use of taking extra insulin for empty calories. I have cut way back on artificially sweetened soft drinks but still have a Diet Dr Pepper once a week or so, or some Crystal Light ice tea. -- Liz

Water, water, water, water! But I also love decaf iced tea. For a treat drink I like what I recently learned was called an Arnold Palmer: half iced tea mixed with half lemonade. > Share recipes for cooling drinks that you enjoy! > [other than water] I'll post a few recipes for drinks I like tomorrow. Guest guest
I don't think anything can match a cold glass of water. But if you must have something that is more than water, try spiking your water with a teaspoon or so of pure maple syrup. That's tops in my book!!! Enjoy summer...love that warm weather!!! Guest guest
that barefoot contessa lady on food network made a drink that looked neat to try. She used 4 bags red zinger tea (Celestial, I think), 4 bags lemon zinger tea boiled in 8 cups of water. She poured it into a pitche and added 4 cups cold apple juice and chilled it all. meg On 7/18/06, Donna <thelilacflower wrote: > > I make sun tea out of the Celestial fruit teabags. Guest guest
That Peach Tea sounds good. I just made some STASH brand Sandman Tea. It was very refreshing. Someone had given me a few bags to try. I sweetened it with a small amount of honey. While I was out of town a friend came up with a new drink for me to try. It was really refreshing. She took a 2 qt. pitcher of water and stirred in about a cup of craisens(dried sweetened cranberries) to it and let it set overnight in the refrigerator. She mixed it well, with a spoon and we drank it. She strained the cranberries out of her glass, but I left the few that got in my glass when I was pouring it and ate them. It was really tasty. Guest guest
my favorite is imperial green tea, avab at specialty shops. It's expensive but worth it if you ask me. I also like white lion brand, avab at tea shops and online. meg On 7/18/06, subprong <subprong wrote: > > > --- In <%40> > <%40>, > > " ~ PT ~ " > > < wrote: > > > > > > QOTW [questions of the week] for July 16th - 22nd: > > > > > > 1. Guest guest
Thanks, Meg. I'm going to look up Avab tea. I've heard there are also white and black teas. I believe green tea leaves are basically young tea leaves, correct? I want to switch the flavor up a bit. Right now I just go with lemon juice and sweet n low. I've actually seen flavored tea syrups in the grocery stores before. Not exactly sure what ingredients they use for those but I may check it out next time. S. Guest guest
I drink green tea and I mix it with a little pineapple juice over ice. I haven't tried white tea yet but it sounds good and mild. Kenia

Guest guest
That sounds interesting! Now did she just use cold water or did she start out with warm or boiling water?
