Judy Quick and Easy Pizza Crust Prep Time: 10 Minutes Cook Time: 20 Minutes Ready In: 30 Minutes Yields: 8 servings " A quick chewy pizza crust that can be made in 30 minutes. " INGREDIENTS: 1 (.25 ounce) package active dry yeast 1 teaspoon white sugar 1 cup warm water (110 degrees F/45 degrees C) 2 1/2 cups bread flour 2 tablespoons olive oil 1 teaspoon salt DIRECTIONS: 1. Preheat oven to 450 degrees F (230 degrees C). In a medium bowl, dissolve yeast and sugar in warm water. Let stand until creamy, about 10 minutes. 2. Stir in flour, salt and oil. Beat until smooth. Let rest for 5 minutes. 3. Turn dough out onto a lightly floured surface and pat or roll into a round. Transfer crust to a lightly greased pizza pan or baking pizza stone dusted with cornmeal. Bake for 5 minutes. Remove from oven and spread with desired toppings. Bake in preheated oven for 15 to 20 minutes, or until golden brown. Let baked pizza cool for 5 minutes before serving. Guest guest
You know how you can go to the store and buy already made pizza crust? I would like to know how to do something like that. Not sure if it is possible? I would be nice to be able to take one day out of the week to pre-make you food for the week? All you would have to do is pull the crust out, top it and cook it and it is then ready! Man that would cut some time it the kitchen I hope that you understand what it is that I am asking because sometimes I do not understand what it is that is coming out of my mouth Val wwjd <jtwigg wrote: Val, I dont' know if this will last for a week, and I am not sure what you mean by beable, but this is a great quick and easy recipe that I like using. Guest guest
Ya, that is what I would like to do, I just was not sure if it would work? But do you cook them first or freeze the dough raw? They just opened a pizza place here that you go in and buy the pizza raw, you tell them what you want on it and take it home and cook it, I thought that was cool! Guest guest
I have not yet tried any recipe for the dough and I would like anyone who is willing to give up theirs I would love to have it and does anyone have a sauce recipe they are willing to part with also? I will try the one first like you said and see how it goes and let everyone know. Thanks, Val strayfeather1 <otherbox2001 wrote: It should work to freeze them raw Val. Do you have a recipe you like? Next time you're making pizza, make an extra crust & try the freezer thing -- that way you don't have to make crust just especially to experiment with and you know you'll get at least one successful crust I freeze lumps of uncooked pizza dough and then thaw & roll but freezing them all rolled out would save lots of time. Guest guest
Yes I think you would need to bake them for about 5 minutes to firm them up. Freeze in large ziplock bags and lay flat in an area where they wouldn't get broken. I haven't done this before, but I always pre-bake pizza crust for 5 minutes before I add any ingredients. It keeps it from being so soggy. Judy - greatyoga Saturday, July 22, 2006 8:08 PM Re: Pizza Crust Recipe - Val Val I think you could do it either way. If you cook them first, don't bake them too much or they will get too dry at the final bake. Guest guest
This is the one I use. It's from Sara Moulton's cooking show. It makes a very thin crust though so I don't know if freezing would work as it might get broken? For sauce I usually use spaghetti sauce with extra garlic added in, or add in roasted red pepper puree if I have some in the freezer. Peace, Diane Pizza Dough from Sara Moulton's cooking show Recipe courtesy Sal Passalaqua 1/4 cup warm water (about 110 degrees) 1 envelope active dry yeast 1 teaspoon sugar 4 cups bread flour 1/2 teaspoon salt 1 1/4 cups cold water 1 tablespoon olive oil Yellow cornmeal, for sprinkling the baking sheet In a bowl, combine warm water, yeast, and sugar. Stir to combine. In the food processor, combine flour and salt and pulse. Add the yeast mixture, cold water, and oil. Pulse until a ball is formed: this will happen quickly, be careful not to overwork the dough. Scrape dough out onto a lightly floured counter and knead for several minutes until dough is smooth. Allow dough to rest for 2 to 3 minutes. Place dough in oiled bowl and allow to rise at room temperature for about 1 hour. Punch dough down, divide into 2 to 4 balls, let rise another 30 minutes. Heat up pizza stone in a 500 degree F oven. Form a 10 to14-inch pizza crust and place on a piece of parchment paper sprinkled with yellow cornmeal. Place topping on the crust and place the pizza, with the parchment paper in the oven on the pizza stone or on hot inverted cookie sheet (not aluminum). Bake until golden, about 10 minutes. , Valerie Cropsey <fantsybeads wrote: > > I have not yet tried any recipe for the dough and I would like anyone who is willing to give up theirs I would love to have it and does anyone have a sauce recipe they are willing to part with also? Guest guest
I will give that a try and I will let you know what happens! This is so much fun! Val Luanne Moore A <lahlbrand wrote: Am just sitting here thinking about the unmade pizza crusts...why don't you cook the pizza crust just enough so that is " rises " and stays risen. Guest guest
By all means, cook the crust most of the way then wrap well and freeze. It works. I usually have several in the freezer for quick meals or my daughter in love sends son number 4 over to " borrow " one. Jeanne in Georgia Messenger with Voice.
