Guest guest
It was posted here last week or so that someone no longer drinks Guinness as it is made with fish. That statement made me go wide-eyed and snap my head back! Now I'm wondering if it's both types of Guinness or just the Stout or the Draft? I'm also wondering about other beers now as well. ~Pumott _______________ Don’t just search. Find. Guest guest
There are a few different lists to check for any alcoholic beverage you want to know about. http://www.vnv.org.au/AlcoholByName.htm lists Guinness as nonvegetarian, both original and draught. http://www.veganporn.com/booze.pl confirms Guinness draught as not vegetarian, but also has info on wines and liquors, plus links to other lists. http://homepage.ntlworld.com/geraint.bevan/Vegetarian_beers.html says no to all Guinness. , " Samantha Coydra " <Pumott_Ube wrote: > > > It was posted here last week or so that someone no longer drinks Guinness as it is made with fish. Guest guest
Hi Pumott. Yes it is true. If you do a google search typing in the words " vegetarian beer " you will come up with several helpful links to more of the detailed information. I may have even put a few of them in our group's links section, too. Seems like many of the UK beers use the fish bi-product in their filtering process, but US, Canada, and German beers generally do not. ~ PT ~ Never in this world can hatred be stilled by hatred; it will be stilled only by non-hatred--this is the eternal law. ~ Buddha ~~~*~~~*~~~> , " Samantha Coydra " <Pumott_Ube wrote: > It was posted here last week or so that someone no longer drinks Guinness as > it is made with fish. Guest guest
I haven't heard about the fish... but I know Guinness isn't vegan it has milk proteins in it. This was quite a blow when my vegan hubby found out. whit --- Samantha Coydra <Pumott_Ube wrote: > > It was posted here last week or so that someone no > longer drinks Guinness as > it is made with fish. Guest guest
technically it's made with isinglass which is a clarifying agent used in wine and beer. Isinglass is made from fish innards. Guiness says " we do not use fish in our beer " but they SHOULD say " we use a clarification process that involves an ingredient made from fish by-products " meg On 7/24/06, whitney <starrypryncess wrote: > > I haven't heard about the fish... but I know Guinness > isn't vegan it has milk proteins in it.
