Guest guest
You know, I was looking for peanut butter without hydrogenated oil in it. Skippy Peanut Butter says it has no transfat in it, but if you look at the label it has hydrogenated oil in it, which is Transfat. I don't know how they can get away with this lie. http://www.cfsan.fda.gov/~dms/qatrans2.html#s1q3 Judy - Elizabeth Blake Tuesday, July 25, 2006 10:19 AM Re: Re: Jiffy mix lard mix --- Donna <thelilacflower wrote: > Last time I looked it still contained lard. It used to have HYDROGENATED lard as well! Maybe they think people feel it's healthier to have some natural lard than trans fat shortening in the stuff. I can't eat Jiffy mix muffins. They send my blood sugar soaring for some reason. I haven't touched them in ages. Must have been the hydrogenated lard! -- Liz

That's why you'll now see some foods with really small serving sizes, so they can claim something has no trans fat or no fat at all etc. I like natural peanut butter that has one ingredient: dry roasted peanuts. My favorite is getting it freshly ground from Whole Foods or a health food store. It's not completely smooth, but doesn't have big chunks of peanut left either. The texture is perfect. -- Liz
Guest guest
I buy Honey Roasted Peanuts and make fresh Peanut Butter in my Vita Mix quite often. I just add a little Peanut oil to it in the Vita Mix and it is wonderful.
