Guest guest
I shopped at my local natural health/organic food store today, and in the produce seciton was what looked like regular, backyard grass, still in the dirt, in a black plastic container. Which I thought it a bit odd that such a thing would be in a produce section. It didn't give any indications as to what it was on the side of it's contianer, nor was there any signs above it. Nor could the nearest clerk confirm or deny that it was indeed grass or e ven what it was., and it didn't have any smell to it really. So, being adventerous, and ,yes, I enjoy some wild grains and grasses now and then, I bought it, and took a big ol' graze out of it. Whatever it is really, Really, OMG! Pungent! (And very fibrous to boot.) ~Pumott _______________ Express yourself instantly with MSN Messenger! Guest guest
Is it Wheat Grass? Folks often grow that in containers and eat it or or add it to smoothies. Guest guest
sounds like wheat grass. it's used for juicing. 1 ounce of wheatgrass juice has the amount of nutrients equal to 2 1/2 pounds of vegetables. it's also got chlorophyl and lots of amino acids in it. great stuff...very cleansing. it tastes like a freshly mowed lawn. i worked at a juice bar at a health food store and we sold tons of wheatgrass juice. i liked to juice it with a little bit of ginger. i haven't been able to find wheatgrass juice since moving to virginia six years ago...i miss it. i can't even find the wheatgrass where i live to grow my own and it's too much of an undertaking to grow my own. hope this helps, susie --- Samantha Coydra <Pumott_Ube wrote: > > I shopped at my local natural health/organic food > store today, and in the > produce seciton was what looked like regular, > backyard grass, still in the > dirt, in a black plastic container. Guest guest
Cool pics at that site, Judy. Now I've done shots before that were no good for me, but I don't know if I'd be up for a shot of that bile-looking wheatgrass brew! *lol* I would be game to try some VERY well blended into a fruit smoothy though. ~ PT ~ You are making progress if each mistake you make is a new one. ~~~*~~~*~~~> , " wwjd " <jtwigg wrote: > > I meant to add this link to see if this is what it might have been. http:// www.sproutpeople.com/seed/wheatgrass.html > Judy
Guest guest
Well, the picture looks lke what I purchased. Though I'd hardly describe the taste as 'freshly mowed lawn.' :?), then again, while I've smelled freshly mowed lawns, I've never actually tasted one (well, maybe way-way-waay back in my youth perhaps), ~Pumott >sounds like wheat grass. it's used for juicing. 1 >ounce of wheatgrass juice has the amount of nutrients >equal to 2 1/2 pounds of vegetables. it's also got >chlorophyl and lots of amino acids in it. great >stuff...very cleansing. it tastes like a freshly >mowed lawn. i worked at a juice bar at a health >food store and we sold tons of wheatgrass juice. i >liked to juice it with a little bit of ginger. i >haven't been able to find wheatgrass juice since >moving to virginia six years ago...i miss it. i can't >even find the wheatgrass where i live to grow my own >and it's too much of an undertaking to grow my own. > >hope this helps, >susie >--- Samantha Coydra <Pumott_Ube wrote: > > > > > I shopped at my local natural health/organic food > > store today, and in the > > produce seciton was what looked like regular, > > backyard grass, still in the > > dirt, in a black plastic container. Guest guest
I haven't tried it, have heard great things about how good it is for you, so I have been thinking about maybe growing some in a plant flat. Haven't gotten around to it yet though. I do enjoy the fresh taste of Barley Green. I wonder if it has a similiar taste. I really loved the Green Machine Naked Juice that I bought at Sam's Club. Here is the ingredient list for it that includes wheat grass, so I guess I have tried it. LOL Green Machine - Superfoods Apple Juice, Frozen Pineapple Juice, Mango Puree, Kiwifruit Puree, Banana Puree, Spirulina, Chlorella, Broccoli, Green Tea, Spinach, Barley Grass, Wheat Grass, Blue Green Algae, Echinacea Purpurea Extract, Odorless Garlic Judy - ~ PT ~ Wednesday, July 26, 2006 3:19 PM Re: That's not grass! Guest guest
LOL Try the Green Machine Naked Juice. We really like it. The first swallow is like, this is thick and hummmmmm, good. The more you drink from the bottle the better it seems to taste. The green color doesn't turn me off at all. My girls weren't so sure if they wanted to try it, but they got used to is and wanted me to buy some more. LOL I looked for it today at Sam's Club, but couldn't find it. Hope they get it back in. That stuff is so good for you. Judy - " Samantha Coydra " <Pumott_Ube Wednesday, July 26, 2006 7:57 PM Re: That's not grass! > Well, the picture looks lke what I purchased.
