Guest guest
I would like to begin a discussion about what it's like to be a vegetarian in a " world that still eats animals " . Please talk about anything in your daily life about BEING a veggie...PLEASE avoid talking about non vegetarians or non vegetarian foods... I have this: When I am driving in the car and I go past a pasture of cows, I am elated. I think I don't harm these guys and that thought alone brings me joy! Wanted to share that
Guest guest
well, i have to talk about eating non-veg foods, otherwise I don't have any conversation. I'll make it quick though. For me it's part of my religious beliefs, not causing harm to others and by eating meat...which I admit I have done a few times in the past 3 months, it was a compromie of sorts...anyhow...I don't believe that the actual act of eating meat is harmful to others, but eating meat leads to more slaughter which *is* harm. This is hard to express in words, but I dont think about the animals I dont eat, that would be interpreted as vain in a way in my beliefs. All I am concerned about is living the right life which means not harming any living being (which also includes not criticizing those who live differently). I eat vegetarian not for my health or my concious or even for the animals, simply because I believe it is the way to a right life. If I smile passing a herd of cows it's because they & I are enjoying life at that moment, I don't think about what will become of them or me. Guest guest
Okay.... that can be a tough one though because I wasn't always a vegetarian so I often do mention my past in connection to my present path simply for comparison purposes. But I'm game to try! BEING a veg'tarian to me is summed up in two words: Delicious freedom! Every day I am so happy with what is on my plate, the variety, colors, textures. The freedom to mix together several " side dishes " to make a complete meal is just so much more interesting. But it is more than what I eat. Like you, I also feel elated or happy when I see animals. I always loved animals so now I feel better knowing my choices have kept some from harm, and it is hard to describe, but I feel closer to them now. ~ PT ~ To be able to look back upon one's life in satisfaction is to live twice. ~ Kahlil Gibran (1883-1931) ~~~*~~~*~~~> , " cuppa_2u " <cuppa_2u wrote: > > I would like to begin a discussion about what it's like to be a > vegetarian in a " world that still eats animals " .
