Guest guest
Meg, do tell! As a big mushroom fan, I would be very interested in hearing more about this topic from an insider to the industry. Guest guest
You mean as in how they are grown and how to tell a good mushroom from a not-so-fresh one? It's stinky business, LITERALLY. I annoy produce managers with my mushroom knowledge, LOL. meg On 8/10/06, Erin <truepatriot wrote: > Meg, do tell! Guest guest
Cool! You will be our resident mycologist! I love mushrooms too and have always been rather fascinated with those folks here in the Pacific NW that go hunting for the wild ones. I would love to go with a group some day to see how they do it and learn what to look for [and what to avoid! eek!]. I think I would be too afraid to do it on my own ever and eat anything I found though. I'll stick to the stuff in stores and be a safe little wimp. ~ PT ~ I will not be revenged; this I owe to my enemy. I will remember; this I owe to myself. ~ Caleb Colton ~~~*~~~*~~~> , Meg <itszen4me wrote: > > You mean as in how they are grown and how to tell a good mushroom from > a not-so-fresh one? I never used to eat mushrooms. If my meal conatined mushrooms, the food would get cold as I picked every little bit of the evil things out. Just recently, after not being able to figure out WHY I wouldn't eat them I decided I had to try. No little slices drowned in some sauce from the Chinese take out for me, I started big with a portobello. I figured I'd give a portobello burger a try (the kind where the mushroom is inside the roll, not using the mushrooms as a roll) and I loved it! I grilled it with a little olive oil and it was great. I've since eaten mushrooms in soup from a Thai place by work and look forward to trying them in other dishes eventually. One day I might even be brave enough to try an olive. -- Liz
Guest guest
Liz, you could totally pass for one of my older children They are 10 & 8 and won't touch a mushroom or olive to save their lives. I finally got my 10 yr old to eat sliced mushrooms but ONLY over salisbury steak (yuck, but she asked for it and she doesn't ask for much and I'm not forcing the kids to go veg). My 20 mo old however, he absolutely loves olives! Meg > > I never used to eat mushrooms.
