Guest guest
OK everyone, I looked at a recent picture of me and I have to tell you I am in bad shape! I am also growing out of my sweat pants! OMG! I need to know what foods are good for making you metabolism run faster or better? What foods are better to eat than others and I am not talking about junk:) What fruits, veggies and nuts? Thanks, Val Get on board. You're invited to try the new Mail Beta. Guest guest
Hee hee, don't sit at the TV every night for an hour eating " deluxe mixed nuts " and drinking rum and coke... I've gained several pounds since starting this ritual. Substituting lowfat/low calorie stuff can help a whole lot, not necessarily with metabolism but just with limiting calories. When you would normally eat regular popcorn, use lowfat, etc. Tastes like cardboard, yes. Less fat, though. I never found the sacrifice worth the results, which is why I've gained so much weight lately. : ) Kadee Sedtal Valerie Cropsey <fantsybeads wrote: OK everyone, I looked at a recent picture of me and I have to tell you I am in bad shape! Guest guest
Hey Val! The story of my life!!!!! :0) I find that the easiest thing to do is to sub out high fat foods for low fat (not nessesarily non-fat). But, the best way to lose the weight and do it the right way in my honest opinion, is to get rid of as much processed, " WHITE " stuff that you can. Instead of white bread use 100% whole wheat, brown rice instead of white, whole wheat pasta instead of white. If you are not vegan, then use low fat dairy (cheese, milk) instead of the full fat. Keep a large container of salad greens in the fridge for quicky meals. Fat free and low fat homemade hummus is always good with any low fat dipping thing. Everything in moderation as the saying goes. And the best way to rev up the metabolism is to start an exercise program (as little as short walks daily). Muscle cranks up the metabolism. Guest guest
Try eating live foods as much as you can. Salads can be substituted for all those nuts and popcorn. Fruit is a great choice. Your body craves live foods, which keeps it in a healthy state. Also...just adjusting your eating habits is not looking at the whole picture. As much as we all hate to hear it...we need exercise too! Plus once you start cutting back on the sugar, which is a difficult move, your body will stop craving it. Which, of course, is a good thing. When that donut is calling for you, just remember that eating one donut is like eating 8 pieces of really fat bacon. UGH!!! That stops me in my tracks when I see donuts in the office. I know...no one wants to hear this stuff. Sorry gang! Meb

Good advice and I will take it a bit further, stay away from bread that has the word enriched on it. It is bad for you , even if it is wheat or whole grain bread. You have to watch out even with those types of bread. Susie or Susan Some Americans need hyphens in their names, because only part of them has come over; but when the whole man has come over, heart and thought and all, the hyphen drops of its own weight out of his name. ~Woodrow Wilson
