Guest guest
What has the term " enriched " come to mean in breads? I am curious. I always thought they just stuck it on labels to make stuff sound more healthy and nutritionally complete... sort of like how they toss the phrases natural and wholesome around now so they have little or no meaning anymre when it comes to processed or prepared foods. Just what are they doing when they " enrich " our bread? Thanks for post that made me go Hmmmm. I look forward to whatever info you can share. ~ PT ~ Science is organized knowledge. Guest guest
Basically, everything good is stripped from the ingredients during the process of making it " white " . All of the good stuff is in the part of the grain they throw away. The bread makers then " enrich " it by adding articifical vitamins and minerals to replace what was lost. Seems to me it's a lot easier to just leave the good stuff in to start with. Meg On 8/13/06, ~ PT ~ <patchouli_troll wrote: > What has the term " enriched " come to mean in breads? > I am curious.
