Time for a new question of the week.

QOTW for Sept. 17th-23rd, 2006:

What are some of your favorite evening snacks

that you enjoy during movie nights or just hanging

out at home with the family?

hubby and i always seem to eat a bowl of cereal late at night after the kids

go to bed. We eat the stuff we hide from the kids, LOL. They have to eat the

healthy stuff, we keep a stash of the sugar-laden really bad for you stuff

way up on the top shelf where the kids won't see it.

We're not big snackers here. Once in a while we may have cornchips and

salsa, or bread & cheese with sliced apples, but not often.

Microwave popcorn. Not the stuff that comes in bags,

but plain popcorn. I have a Presto microwave popper

and you don't even have to add any oil if you don't

want it. Sometimes I put about 1 teaspoon of olive

oil in with 3 Tbsp of kernels, add a little sea salt

and have it that way. Other times I pop it plain,

spray the popper kernels with an olive oil spray and

sprinkle some seasonings on.

My family likes salty snacks...chips, pretzels,

tortilla chips, salsas, snack mix, nuts, and popcorn.

Cookie dough. Chocolate chip. I have a recipe for it with no eggs so we don't

get salmonella. Here it is for anyone who's either not on a diet or is a

cheater:

1/4 c. sugar

1/4 c. packed brown sugar

1/2 c. flour

1/4 c. butter (I use vegetable spread)

1 tsp. vanilla

1 tbsp. water

1 c. chocolate chips

I had some this afternoon while watching Star Trek. Good show. Good cookie

dough.

Ohhhh....organic popcorn. No butter or margarine, but sprinkled with

nutritional yeast and salt. Can't have a movie night without it. :-)

I agree. Popcorn is the best and I love it with

nutri-yeast sprinkled over top with some celtic

sea salt. Mmmmmm

When we lived in Hawaii we would sprinkle a package

of mochi crunch crackers in with the popcorn, but

I can't find them here on the mainland.
