Guest guest
Sorry to interrupt with something off topic. I'm just looking for recipies for my diabetic husband and love vegetables, so love new recipies. I did state when I joined that I'm not a vegetarian. I have been very worried about the members of this group since I have been hearing so much about the spinach problems. I am hoping everyone is well, and has not been affected by this problem. I won't interrupt again. Just been worried about everyone. Alice
Guest guest
Frozen spinach is safe to use. And as far as diabetics are concerned...please prepare and eat a lot of veggies. I've been a diabetic for 18 years now, and and over abundance of veggies is really a must in controlling one's glucose levels. Joanie P. S. You can go to any of the recipe sites, do a search for " diabetic " and find a great many diabetic recipes.
Guest guest
alice, you are not interrupting. this is a community and you are a member and as long as you are not posting about meat, you are welcome to jpost anytime you like. and i don't think this is off topic at all. i'm curiious too. has anyone had any problems with spinach or know anyone who has?? anyone else craving spinach? lol, i've been jonesin for spinach lately (been eating it frozen and cooked) since i'm hearing so much about it. i came down with a nasty 3 day long gastrointestinal thing about 5 days after i ate some fresh spinach from a salad bar. several of my co-workers, students and their families ate from the same salad bar and none had problems (that i know of). so, i don't know if my problem was e. coli....i never went to the doctor. i teach preschool and those kids are soooo germy and it's more likely i picked up something there. anywho, i hope everyone is well. i'm hoping this e. coli outbreak will bring about some changes in food safety. thanks for your concern alice, susie --- alice <alicefay wrote: > Sorry to interrupt with something off topic. Guest guest
Our local grocer had a sale on store brand non organic frozen veggies this week...$1.00 for a 10 oz-16 oz pack...the shelves were about empty, including the frozen creamed spinach. People were stocking up. Guest guest
I have really been missing my usual spring mix salad. Most of the time I'd also buy extra baby spinach and mix the two. I've been buying a baby red & green romaine mix lately which is nice but not as good as the mix/spinach. I was in a supermarket by work today and saw they had clamshell packages of sprinx mix salad with stickers saying NO SPINACH on them. They were charging $5 so I passed. -- Liz
Guest guest
I posted this on another group; sorry if this is duplicate info for some. The strain of ecoli found in the spinach is likely from a feedlot. It is one found in cows fed a diet of grains, not grasses as mother nature intended. Stay in the know. Pulse on the new .com. Check it out.
Guest guest
That is sweet of you to be concerned. So far so good here with my family. None of us have gotten sick. Yesterday I ordered one of my favorite take & bake veggie gourmet pizzas, and it wasn't until after I had eaten a few slices that it dawned on me that the pizza place had left off the fresh spinach layer; guess they are being super careful and not taking any chances. Oh, and I also noticed in my favorite grocery store, in the salad section, that there was no bagged fresh spinach for sale. ~ PT ~ Since I came to the White House, I got two hearing aids, a colon operation, skin cancer, a prostate operation and I was shot. The thing is I've never felt better in my life. ~ Ronald Reagan ~~*~~~*~~~*~~~> , " alice " <alicefay wrote: > > Sorry to interrupt with something off topic.
